Jerk Roast ‘Beef’
Plant Based Piglet

I have always enjoyed cooking for people, since a young age I used to make my Mum and Nan lunch as they came in from gardening in the Summertime and that would consist of a sandwich and crisps, at the sophisticated age of 12, I believe I may have upgraded to toasting bagels and presenting them with large chunks of cucumber and hummus. Then when I got a little older and was allowed to use the oven without supervision, ( I once had a near-death experience with cauliflower cheese), I started to cook roast dinners for my family and then friends. I love the feeling of giving my loved ones a nice me ..read more

Ken Hom x The Gate

Last weekend I went to visit The Gate in St Johns Wood to taste Ken Hom’s vegan menu and I had such a lovely time. I was lucky enough to meet Ken Hom himself, someone I have admired for as long as I can remember. I am tea total so I had a ginger spritz, to begin with, and continued with this through the meal, there is something about ginger-based drinks whilst eating I find very comforting. I would recommend to anyone who may suffer from digestion issues as it has helped me a great deal. We had some olives and olive bread with baba ganoush to start. The smokiness of the aubergines was delicio ..read more

Returning to Meatless District

I was blown away the last time I visited Meatless District and tried their mushroom Benedict which was incredible. Silky vegan hollandaise,  on a bed of juicy mushrooms, I mean what more could you want. Well, actually there was a lot more I wanted to try which is why when I visited last month I went for the tomato ‘lox’ with cream cheese, all vegan and absolutely delicious. Although reasonably priced this restaurant is perfect for a special meal, as the decor lends itself to a relaxed by sophisticated setting. The staff are always friendly and helpful, which is particularly good in my ca ..read more

There is no way that I am ever going to visiting the land of the Dam and not visit MOAK pancakes, this time however, I went all out. I order the The Good Life, and was I living it when I ate this  plant based yoghurt, vegan granola, cinnamon, strawberries, Canadian Maple Syrup pancake stack I was in sheer heaven. I did opt to add some extras because opportunities like this don’t come often, with the Go Deluxe option they will throw in some King Medjoul dates and blackberries, which makes this legendary dish reach levels of deliciousness, that I don’t think words have been i ..read more

2020 Date Night at Bull and Gate
Plant Based Piglet
by Plant Based Piglet

Last night hubby and I went to Bull and Gate for dinner, it is one of our favourite places in London to go for date night as it has low lighting and the atmosphere is perfect for a romantic meal. This is our secret spot for a nice meal when we really want to catch up and actually be able to hear each other over the dinner table, as you have plenty of space around you which is not always guaranteed in a restaurant in London. Starting with some awesome vegan starters the roasted flat mushroom, with perfectly cooked red peppers, braised leek, accompanied by a refreshing avocado mousse ..read more

Dad’s Birthday at Punjab

My lovely Dad had decided he wanted to go for and Indian meal for his birthday, which immediately caused me concern, because normally that means that my husband and I don’t really have many vegan options. We recently went to and Indian restaurant were even the rice wasn’t vegan! Punjab, in Covent Garden however, had a plethora of vegan deliciousness and boy, oh boy, did we go to town. They had so many options, clearly marker 100% vegan, they did say that anything that is fried is fried with the vegetarian options so it could not be vegan due to cross contamination, however, these are not mark ..read more

On the off chance we bumped into a fellow vegan in Amsterdam and they just so happened to tell us about Deer Mama and thank the vegan God’s that they did because WOW! They do a little bit of everything in here from cakes, to milkshakes to full blown meals and even though we were actually on our to another restaurant for lunch, when we passed Deer Mama on the tram and stopped off for a small bite to eat, 2 milkshakes, cakes and baguettes later and we were in heaven. Their food is beyond delicious, it is ambrosial and then some. Their cakes were to die for, the milkshakes were worth ..read more

Birthday Breakfast at MOAK

When it comes to celebrating my birthday, I don’t really mind people not knowing I am another year older, but I do like to treat myself to some good food and usually that is abroad. Amsterdam for me is the capital of vegan food and they never disappoint when it comes to dinner, but breakfast is something I haven’t really tried, before now. MOAK was probably the best place to start as their Blueberry Yum Yum – blueberries in the batter or on the pancakes with Canadian Maple Syrup that we added an extra scoop of saffron ice cream on top to make it super delicious… it was my birthday af ..read more

Sunday Lunch at Mommi’s
Plant Based Piglet

One of my favourites restaurants in London, has to be Mommi, the food is fantastic, the service is excellent and the atmosphere speaks for itself, (literally). They have great vegan options and it is a place I love to go to meet with friends or to have chill time with my darling because it is just the best place for a decent meal and a good time. I can’t resist the vegan Sushi Power Bowl, a deconstructed sushi dish that is so tasty and comforting, it is almost a ritual for me to order this every time I go. With layers of sushi rice, avocado, nori and edamame with toasted sesame and choclo whi ..read more

Celebration Meal at Beach Blanket Babylon
Plant Based Piglet
by Plant Based Piglet

Walking in to Beach Blanket Babylon we were overwhelmed by the decor and the amount of detail going on in this restaurant, was like nothing we had ever seen before, we sat in front of a roaring fire that was perfect when arriving in from the cold English weather. We didn’t discover just how vast this restaurant was, until we went to the rest room ad saw how big and amazing this place is. We started with a cocktail each as it was date night and we like a little tipple every once in a while, this is such a luxurious place, I felt so relaxed and ready to enjoy myself. We ordered olives and soda b ..read more
