Pajama Day - Grinch Style

Today was pajama day. Ashton was worried that she'd sweat in her Grinch onesie. However, today was a cold day with bitterly, cold, whipping winds. So it was perfect! However, we didn't expect her to add her Santa hat to it. But she insisted. It didn't hurt anything, so we let her. She was thrilled. This girl sings Christmas carols all year long, so why should be be surprised she wants to wear her Santa hat? Ashton said everyone in her class was pulling off her "precious" hat then running off with it.  Today Ashton was doing "spoons math" and reviewing fractions and decim ..read more

Today was Ashton's first day on student leadership council. She loved it. She was asked to dress in red/white/blue because she'd be on the morning news at school for Veterans Day. She was allowed to pick what she wanted to read. As she never did the news before she chose the shortest line she could memorize, not realizing that they use cue cards to read from when presenting. The council also decided to compete with the other elementary schools in her township to help fundraise for Make A Wish. Then the council will present the donation to Make A Wish during a local radio station request-a ..read more

It's 3 weeks of theme days at school we can't do them all - but we're doing one's that Ashton can easily do. Today is rainbow day and she has this awesome rainbow dress that was perfect. I talked her into her rainbow hair that she got a while back - she was worried her hair was too short that it wouldn't work. I thought it was perfect for rainbow day. This girl has so much light in her that she radiates ..read more

For years, Ashton has wanted to be Class President. She has had several "president" outfits over the years. And then she grew too big for them. But she kept the tie. Recently, I saw her wear her necktie because she wanted to feel "presidential" again. She wore it to celebrate going back to school from fall break. I remembered how much she loved that outfit and decided to find the closest thing I could so she'd have another "President" outfit. I got her this outfit for her birthday along with 1 more in blue with a skirt rather than shorts.  She loves them. And it came just in time beca ..read more

Creepy Scarecrow for Halloween

This ain't your Wizard of Oz, run-of-the-mill scarecrow. Putting on make-up on a wiggling child is an unappreciated art form! However, I did it! After redoing one eye several times and talking my daughter back into finishing what I started. One eye wouldn't cut it. We had to staple her hat in the back as it was too big for her head- even adding the wig. And for the life of me - I couldn't find a kid's blonde wig unless I wanted to spend a lot of money online. So I bought a cheaper one in person - that was for adults. It was also a long-haired wig, like for Lady Godiva or Elsa ..read more

Today was more birthday fun! We had a small family birthday gathering for Ashton. She picked out her favorite food: Chick-fil-a chicken with baked potato, salad, and coke. LaoLao made sure to get everything ahead of time (yesterday) and then heated it all up for us all today. Ashton also got a haunted house cake, like she wanted. We all ate and enjoyed each other's time. It'll be Halloween next week then into November! Time is running away with itself ..read more

Happy 10th birthday, Ashton!! Ashton started her day with a soccer game. It was cold and wet, but the game was good. Ashton played really well. We ended up tied. Then we had to rush to pick up her birthday cupcakes and then home to shower and change and get ready for her party. However, I let her open cards before the party. She got a kick out of her card from her Grampy. The card was a hit! And it got her pumped up for her party! Her cupcakes came out so great. We even got edible tops with an aerial silk image with Ashton's name and age on it! We then picked up the pi ..read more
