AN EFFORRTLESS COAT AND A SHIRT DRESS

I love the volume of a roomy coat! I have not been able to take off this vintage generously cut Courrege coat for a several months now. It affords the versatility of a kind of luxe blanket. This is one investment I will never regret! I was looking for a classic camel coat, something like the covetable Max Mara wrap coat in camel, when I happened upon it. The Max Mara coat will have to wait, but in the meantime I’m enjoying the versatility of this elegant and warm number. I wear this cost with everything, jeans and Uggs for a grocery run and over dresses and skirts for outdoor dining. All that ..read more

RELAXED IN NEUTRAL AND GOLD

I love a comfortable look, but for me it must always be chic. This oatmeal sweater and skirt combo topped off with a roomy camel blazer is laid-back yet elevated.  It’s no wonder knits have reigned supreme as we spend so much more time at home, and since they offer a non-constricting fit that I’m fully onboard with them. The cashmere sweater is from the 60s that I picked up, I don’t remember where, a few years back. It a couple of sizes too big, which is just how I like when comfort is at the top of my list. The fit-and-flare knit skirt is vintage St. John, it’s medium weight is ideal fo ..read more

THE LONG BLAZER AND SCULPTURAL PANT

I love playing with volume! And when I recently thrifted these generously cut Oska pants I wanted to pair them  with my vintage Issey Miayke long blazer. The double breasted oversized jacket is ideal for balancing the “O” silhouette of the trousers. To visually contain all that volume and to elongate the line of the silhouette I went with another thrifted piece, a V-neck knit crop top and a pair of sleek peep-toe Margiela booties with a sculptural heel. For me statement jewelry has always been a major mood booster! And who cannot use a bit of sartorial joy during this surreal year?! This ..read more

I think many of us are always looking for ways to achieve an effortlessly cool look that can be put together without second thought When the temps drops, I tend to reach for the hard to beat jeans + sweater combo, but this outfit is just as easy and casual, but appears like it required a bit more effort. And I always like to utilize pieces from different seasons. Not only does it create opportunities for unexpected juxtapositions, but I got more bang for my  buck from my wardrobe. Is there anything more comfortable then a generously cut maxi dress? This 80s floral number is from India, a ..read more

(UPCYCLED) PATENT VEST + SLIT PANT

I have been eyeing the vest trend since its strong showing on the Spring 2020 runways. From knit vests, pinstripe suit vests, to vest jackets, blazers, and coats the versatility of this garment is impressive, and its perfect for all seasons! But instead of going out and buying one, although I’m on the lookout for cozy cashmere version, I decided to upcycle a jacket  from my closet with UV damaged knit sleeves and turn it into a vest. The patent leather was just too good to waste! And I want to get as much wear as I can out of this piece, especially as the our lifestyles in the midst of co ..read more

HOUNDSTOOTH WITH A POP OF SILVER

I love a classic print, especially one with such a fascinating pedigree as the houndstooth! This abstracted checkerboard pattern made it’s way from Scottish sheep herders in the 1800s to a symbol of aristocratic wealth in the 1930s when adopted by Edward the VII Duke of Windsor. With its masculine vibes and county club chic this boxy blazer is one of my oft reached for jackets, and I wanted to build a head-to-toe tonal around it. If you carefully follow the trends  the color of the moment is camel, but my advice is to use what you have in your clo ..read more

Can this year get any more surreal?!! Literally, SF skies where a foreboding orange on September 10th due to raging wild fires on the West Coast.  I’m praying this devastation will end soon. It is horrendous to watch and experience the loss of life and land. This is one hellava a year!! I’m hoping and praying we will see fire containment soon!!! The weather is all over the place again in SF, from the recent scorching heat wave to this week’s the temps are our more common low to mid 60s. And that means I’m full into my in-between-seasons dressing mode and transitioning my fave slip skirt ..read more

Despite the current major heat wave in the Bay Area (it’s hit 90 degrees in SF!!!), transitional dressing is right around the corner. About a week ago it was cooling off considerably, and I started to plot my in-between seasons outfits. It may seem hard thing to do, pulling from both from the summer and fall wardrobe, but actually offers a way to use more of your wardrobe and flex your sartorial muscle! These high waist wide leg pants are from the mid 90s, and they have been my fav thing to reach for during the heat. They offer the comfort of pajamas, but the medium weight linen keep them fro ..read more

SMOCKED MAXI DRESS AND SHEER TOP

We’ve had quite the heatwave last week! I’m talking 90 degree weather in San Francisco!!! But most of the time we always need a layer in SF’s notoriously cold summers. A strapless maxi dress is perfect for adding some kind of layer underneath hat won’t leave you freezing in the shade and wind. This 70s maxi dress features a smocked bodice (where the fabric is gathered and stretchable) that will flatter various body types, and I love the vibe of a dreamy, romantic summer that it conjures up for me.  But this dress is easy to style all year round, I want that cost per wear maximized! I can ..read more

CHIC BLAZER AND SATIN PANTS

I’m starting to think about what investment pieces I will be buying for fall. Of course buying consignment and vintage as much as possible! And this look exemplifies why it’s important to buy with a purpose and longevity in mind and how I can improve upon it. Everything shutting down has for my really underscored in a much more acute way how important it is to choose every piece wisely. I have been practicing this for many years but it has really hit home now! I’m always singing the praises for a good blazer. It has the uncanny ability to just class up everything else you’re wearing. Here, I ..read more
