Is our obsession and lack of nuance surrounding racism to blame for the new censorship prison we find ourselves in?

People used to be far less sensitive and joke about things like race and understand it as a natural part of the human experience. We were able to recognize our differences without offence at every little thing. Now everybody is afraid to speak their minds and speak truth without fear and why bill c-36 we are going to be in a speech straight jacket. I’d rather have people insult me openly than to be restricted in speech. Canada is going to a very dangerous path of censorship and denial of reality for the sake of censoring what we say. submitted by /u/PersonalityOk8529 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Nice building. But $36 million dollars to renovate? You can tear it down and build something for a tenth of that. Certainly under $10 Million. Better maybe to upgrade the grounds and build a new building instead… submitted by /u/Responsible-Window80 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

With the news that the GG is siding with the Trudeau government, we must have his majesty King Charles remove them from office. We have hard won British liberties in this dominion that mean we have the right to express our thoughts without such draconian speech laws. The GG must remain impartial as well. It is clear that we have Soviet plants embedded in positions of power in this country and King Charles must save his loyal subjects in Canada from this. My loyalists ancestors did not give up everything in New England and flee to New Brunswick in order to see such tyranny. They gave up everyt ..read more

How does the new federal map come into effect immediately?

I've seen some MPs posting about how at the end of April that their ridings are changing. How is this possible mid-term? The new map has more members than the current map does, which would mean there are vacancies on the first day. How do the incumbents get assigned (for example, if a riding were to be separated in two?). Or are the incumbents just making it known where they are going to seek re-election and its largely symbolic? submitted by /u/AdThin3399 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Carbon Tax Hypocrisy
Reddit | CanadianPolitics

Why do people who argue in favour of the carbon tax also try to shift blame for rising prices to oil companies/argue that rising prices are bad? Isn’t that the entire point of the carbon tax? To raise prices and make gas unaffordable so that fewer people use it? It’s a totally urban way of thinking. All it does out here in NB is make our cost of living higher, there’s hardly any street cars or buses to travel around in like Toronto. submitted by /u/WholeRepublic5778 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
