I attended a local D1 program’s end of season banquet / awards ceremony recently.
I attended last year and it was a big hit and really enjoyable. Awards were presented and all.
There are currently a handful of players in the transfer portal leaving this said program. They did not attend the banquet the other day. We were discussing how it could go one of two ways… do the transfer out players not attend the banquet by choice or is it recommended they do not attend?
Despite a solid season with some success, it was clear that the coach felt hurt and betrayed by the circumstances of the portal. T ..read more

7.2 ppg, 3.1 rb, 49.1% fg, will be an incoming senior, and for only 1 year as COVID years are over.
Any Tennessee or SEC fans have any thoughts to share with us Hoosiers?
Think she’ll start over Meister? It’s pretty wide open at center with those two and Wiseman the incoming freshman, #61 on ESPN/HoopGurlz.

New NCAAW fan here, hopefully this is okay to ask here!
I’m a lesbian and think it’s really sweet to see the relationships between gay WNBA stars and theirs wives and just generally enjoy the representation, but it seems like at the college level players are comparatively much quieter about their sexuality.
I’m all for player’s privacy and respect not being open about sexual orientation in general (!!) especially because they’re so young, but I’m just curious if it’s specifically related to the NCAA culture, team culture, NIL rules (?), etc. I read a few articles about how hostile it’s been h ..read more

For context, this comes from a great article from just last month that goes in depth on the search and hiring process of Dawn Staley.
https://www.thestate.com/sports/college/university-of-south-carolina/usc-womens-basketball/article286326990.html
After South Carolina HC Susan Walvius resigned in April 2008, South Carolina AD Hyman began the search for a new women's basketball HC.
Four candidates were interviewed: the aforementioned Hatchell, Chattanooga's Wes Moore (currently the HC at NC State), Tennessee assistant Holly Warlick, and of course, Dawn Staley from Temple.
Hyman focused his effo ..read more

People have said that Liz (second team) and Georgia (third team) were the best single-team duo in the nation and that stat supports that argument. We’ll see how much of that weight was pulled by Liz next year when Georgia is alone at Kentucky.
You could argue that some of the AP selections were a bit questionable but either way that stat is still impressive
Other teams that came close: -UConn (Paige Bueckers first team, Aliyah Edwards and Nika Muhl HM)
-LSU (Angel Reese second team, Aneesah Morrow HM)
-Ohio State (Jacy Sheldon second team, Cotie McMahon HM)
-South Carolina (Kamila Cardoso sec ..read more
