Hi guys, Just recently been made senior head coach of a team which is struggling a bit, and to boost morale I'm looking at a way to show them how much they improve during the season (and that how hard they work in pre season is paying off too). As the title suggests, I’m a first year assistant coach at the high school level. I’ve only been coaching for a month now, but I feel like I’m just dead weight compared to other coaches who have more experience than me. I played as both a back and forward in my playing years, mostly as an outside center before transitioning to hooker. There are two other backs coaches, so I feel like I’d be better off helping coach the forwards but really only know a lot of stuff for hookers involving line outs. I'm I coach for a U19 HS team in the US and my team got beat pretty badly this weekend. I believe the reason for this defeat was because we had no chance to play offense. The team probly had about 5 mis worth of offensive possession. We played great defense the entire game but had almost no opportunities to score. We had about 3 possessions of significance with 2 of those 3 going for about 7-8 phases each. Any advice for trying to get my team more offensive opportunities.
