Long time follower first time poster Newly diagnosed I decided to go see my endo…guess what I got in the mail?? He’s leaving the practice and doesn’t say where he’s going..So while I find a new doctor I wanted to ask if anyone else experiences this and what they did. My story: I went to the ER for extreme itchyness and my blood sugar was 400. Was diagnosed with type 2. Current issue: I get randomly itchy around my neck elbow and groin..this seems to occur less when I control my sugar intake. Any suggestions to avoid the itchyness? Even when my sugar is less and I work out it still can happen ..read more

My experience with Mounjaro

I am in the belief Mounjaro is almost a cure thus far for me.. I tried dieting, different variations of medication, etc. I’ve always been receptive to changes in my body. In 2017 I started to notice slight changes which I thought was just the cost of getting older and possibly changes in my testosterone levels. Just guessing because I was still in my thirties at the time and not paying to much attention to it but I can’t stress enough to take care of yourself and seek out answers because ultimately it’s your body and your health. I have always been an avid fitness goer and athlete but I notic ..read more

My mum told a family member about me being diabetic and I got mad at her (Am I exaggerating?)

I recently got diagnosed with diabetes and have been struggling to come to terms with it. Some days I'm fine, and some days I cry about it. My friends have really been supportive about it. My family have been meh about it. One of my brothers was really supportive when I was diagnosed but since then he's kind of kept his distance (I'm not sure why?), while the other one hasn't really said anything. My mum was on the phone with one of her sisters and I overheard. She started talking about my brother and how he's trying to lose weight, etc. She said that he told her he doesn't want to end up lik ..read more

Hello, ‘Hoping for some brainstorming/possible explanations for what I’m seeing. I’m a 55-year-old man, 6-1, ~205 pounds. I work out regularly. I was first diagnosed with T2D in mid-September of last year, with an initial A1c of 10.1 and a mean BG ~ 235. I was initially placed on metformin (1000mg/day) and Ozempic, as well as Tresiba 15u/day. My reaction to Ozempic was bad, so we decided to remove that and move forward with metformin at 2000mg/day, Tresiba 15/day, and a lowcarb diet. I soon joined the Virta diabetes management program, since I had done keto diets before, and based on my resea ..read more

Time from initial diagnosis/medication to noticeable number changes

Summary: Was recently diagnosed w type2. Definitely hereditary. Approx 2 weeks ago. Immediately started taking metformin/ drastically changed diet. I'm in pretty good shape as-is, feel generally great. It's just that my morning and evening blood number is still hovering around 300 and is yet to break 230 after two weeks of the above. The only physical symptom I'm still getting slightly blurred vision. Everything else has ceased (thirst..etc) I guess I was assuming that I'd start to see a decline in my number by now. IS this normal? I've been told that stress could be a factor? I am in the pro ..read more

Hey everyone.. so I’ve been officially diagnosed with type 2 as of Jan 2020 and it sucks. I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant with my daughter in 2011. I’m having severe tingling pain and sweaty feet and nothing is helping. my sugars are always floating at about 12 mmol/L that’s the average. I don’t know what to do. The pain in my feet keeps me up at night. I’m on Humalog and tressiba. submitted by /u/aLilSweetnSpicy [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Why would doctor change meds?

My FIL has had T2D for years. Has been up and down with his weight and health for as long as I've known him. He has a bad habit of eating nothing all day and then night eating. Most recently he was on Trulicity and Metformin. His weight had gone down and from what we knew he was doing well. My husband told me today he was taken off those 2 meds and is now on insulin, but that his dad said it was a good thing. I was under the impression that insulin was the last resort to treat T2D. Does any of this make sense? We we trying to understand if he is doing better or if he was having more issues. H ..read more
