Hi I am going to start using a pump … I currently use Humalog on a MDI regime. When I change over, can I ask my Dr to change my prescription (as the medicine is the same, the packaging is different) or does it need a letter from the consultant? Anyone else faced this in UK?

I’ve been a diabetic for over 20 years. I’ve been on numerous insulin pumps. Animas mini med and just recently the Omni pod. Now for some contacts my diabetes has caused me to lose my vision so I have been vision impaired for two years now. Back in March my doctor recommended me to go on the new Omni pod system. I have been apprehensive about this because I cannot see the PDM clearly at least with the dexacom. It is compatible with my phone so my voiceover reads everything out for me with no problem. my doctor told me the Omni pod system is compatible with phones so I went ahead with transiti ..read more

Does anyone else avoid eating super spicy food? I haven’t ate super spicy food since diagnosis for 2 reasons. 1) whenever it’s super spicy I typically need milk to like “recover” and it’s just extra carbs that I didn’t originally count for, and if that spice doesn’t go away after one cup I’ll end up drinking another which is even more carbs. 2) I think spicy food tends to make my blood glucose spike, idk if it’s like some type of physical stress on my body from that “heat” or something else but yeah. Do any of these things happen to anyone else or is it just me lol

I am switching back to needles from the insulin pump. Mainly because i work with children with behavioral and mental disorders and they like to try to break the insulin pump and rip it off of me. Im not too worried about switching back but the only thing I haven’t found a clear answer to was how to turn off the insulin pump? Do i just let the battery die? And once its off will it remember my profile? Also any advice from people who have also switched back to needles is welcome, im sure there are some things i haven’t thought about yet.

I realise this is probably a super dumb question but the place i need to get an MRI weren't 100% sure if it was full on necessary to take it off for the scan but google says to take it off.
I'm just wondering whether if I do keep it on do I run a health risk (am not going to fuck around and find out), or do I just run the risk of the sensor failing on me (am willing to fuck around and find out)?
Addition to clarify question: Is the unsafe element for the sensor or for me as a human?
Thank you!
