Zest’s Managing Director, Andi Mether shares the story around the creation of our inclusive interactive sculpture – the Pedotle! The Pedotle journey began with a beach, some children in wheelchairs and a dream! I’m a volunteer surf lifesaver at the Toowoon Bay SLSC. We have a group of Stingray Nippers at Toowoon Bay made up of children with additional needs. A team of dedicated and big-hearted volunteers work with the Stingrays, teaching them surf skills and floating and swimming in the ocean. Being in the water gives the children a sense of freedom that they find hard to achieve on land. I’ve ..read more

There is no doubt that there is a distinct movement in city and regional areas on re-invigorating public areas. Public art can be used to brighten up bland areas – laneways, lamp posts, pavements, walls, parklands, shopping precincts and even stairs. Public art can often signify special places of interest, relate to heritage aspects or link to historical aspects of an area. The scope is endless. Towns & cities can gain so much value through public art – whether it be cultural, social, or for economic value. It adds meaning to an area and engages communities.
