I've tried using Contently and my profile isn't able to be accessed from the outside. Anyone have any other suggestions? Are we able to use journal articles that we've written for scientific publications that are behind a paywall as samples? Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/Non_chalance3 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I learned about medical research, and I'm currently working on systematic review projects. I want to learn medical writing for research and later for work and freelance. Some people suggested Stanford's "writing in the sciences" by Kristen Sainani. Is there any better sources or a beginner's roadmap? submitted by /u/vfoe1 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hey folks, I'm reaching out to the community to gather insights and advice on whether this is a feasible goal. Is it realistic for someone in my position to break into the UK or US job markets as a freelance medical writer with no prior experience in those countries? Are there any success stories or examples of individuals who have managed to do so? submitted by /u/notsofunny55 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Is this 'bad practice' or normal in publications

I've recently joined a new company as an Editor/QC, and they mainly work in publications, and I have mainly been working on one writer's work. They use a lot of references. For example, they will cite one review paper for one general point, another review paper for another general point, etc. All of the points could have been cited by just 1 or 2 of the review papers, but instead they're referencing a different paper each time. I used to do the same thing as an undergraduate student as a way of bumping up my reference list, but I've never come across it in med comms materials before. I've not ..read more

Unsure about my scientific background

I have a bachelor’s in nutrition with a minor in English but decided not to become a dietitian. I’m still interested in science, particularly medicine and thought about getting a second bachelor’s or graduate degree in the sciences. However, I’m taking a grad level language/linguistics class and love it! I’m interested in doing medical writing, but I don’t feel like I have a strong scientific background. I have no formal lab experience. But I want to focus on developing my writing skills and building up my portfolio instead going through more rigorous (and expensive) formal scientific schooli ..read more

MBA vs Regulatory Writing Certificate

I just finished up with a client that I was writing for the past 3 years. But now I’m looking to get into actual medical writing. With my last paycheck from this client I was going to put forward towards either a MBA or Regulatory Writing Certificate at University of Chicago. I have a pharmd but no experience with medical writing. I’ve applied for hundreds of jobs with no interview. Which do you think would help me more?
