Adoption Matters supporters, Kate and Martin Slack, are hosting a garden party in aid of the children’s charity and voluntary adoption agency on Saturday 29 June 2024. Kate and Martin’s event, which will be held at their beautiful home and grounds of Ashton Grange in Cheshire, is open to the public and it will be an opportunity for Adoption Matters adopters and supporters to come together for a day of family fun. Adoption Matters, is delighted to announce the appointment of their new Patron, Amanda Parker, Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire. Amanda was appointed Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire in August 2023.  Born, bred and educated in Lancashire she is a devoted Lancastrian. Amanda lives with her husband Robert at Browsholme Hall, one of Lancashire’s most important historic houses. LGBTQ+ Adoption & Fostering Week returns on Monday 4th March and children’s charity and voluntary adoption agency, Adoption Matters, is supporting the week with pride. LGBTQ+ Adoption and Fostering Week is led by New Family Social – the UK’s peer-support charity for LGBTQ+ adopters, foster carers and special guardians. When the campaign started in 2012, adoption in England by same-gender couples stood at 1 in 31, in 2023, the proportion was 1 in 5. Adoption Matters, is delighted to receive a donation of £1,000 from The Llay Estate Charity, which is administered by St. Mary Without-the-Walls Church in Handbridge, Chester. Pictured, Adoption Matters Chief Executive, Susy White, with St. Mary’s Without-the-Walls Church volunteer, David Gilburt, who presented the cheque, along with a personal donation of nearly £40 from his own home. Local children’s charity and voluntary adoption agency, Adoption Matters, named a newly refurbished meeting room in their Chester Head Office, the ‘Goodwin Room’ in honour of their former CEO, Norman Goodwin, CBE who worked at the charity for over 36 years. The room was officially ‘opened’ earlier this month and will now be one of the venues for the charity to hold monthly adoption panels, where new adoptive parent/s are approved as adopters. NatWest Group employees Nicki and Gary abseiled with the use of 100 foot crane at one of their Scotland offices to raise over £700 for local children’s adoption charity.
