Canon has today announced the introduction of a brand new ultra-wide zoom lens for the EOS R mirrorless system. Compact and lightweight for a lens of this type, the RF 16-28mm f2.8 IS STM lens is physically similar to the RF 28-70mm f2.8 IS STM and uses a retractable design to reduce its size when stored away.
The lens offers 5.5-stops of optical image stabilisation, which increases to 8 stops when used on a camera with in-body image stabilisation. It's weather-resistance, despite not being an L-series lens.

Firmware Version 1.0.2 for the EOS R5 Mark II incorporates the following enhancements and fixes:
1. Incorporates support for frame rates of 23.98fps/24.00fps when using the LP-E6NH and LP-E6N battery.

Canon has announced three new lenses for its EOS R mirrorless system which are designed to seamlessly bridge the worlds of stills and video for today's multimedia professionals. The EOS R5 camera has a new firmware version available which primarily makes it work with the new battery pack, LP-E6P.
Firmware version 2.1.0 incorporates the following enhancements and fixes:
1. Enables functions to be used without limitation in conjunction with the new Battery Pack LP-E6P.
This makes it possible to shoot at the same continuous shooting speed as when using LP-E6NH.

Canon has announced its intention to add new lenses to its hybrid RF L-series range on 30 October 2024, teasing with the image above.
Canon’s hybrid lenses are a range of RF L-series primes and zooms designed for high performance stills and video capture. They are able to perform multiple roles and harness technology from Canon’s broadcast, cinema and existing RF lenses to make for a truly versatile range.
The first two lenses in the range are the RF 24-105mm f2.8L IS USM Z, launched in November 2023, and the RF 35mm f1.4L VCM lens, announced earlier this year in June.
