in British Columbia, Canada, which means more time in the studio, of course. And it's a hodge-podge on one of the tables. I can actually see four books-in-progress on this half of the table alone. You'll note the toilet paper roll thingy is just above that riotous canvas piece. It was not nearly the success it was meant to be, although there are parts of the painty blue and pink twists and turns on that canvas.
One of the books received some black ink work on the fabric cover with the next step to include addition of beads on those trailing elastics.

- this week, I mean. We were away celebrating a grandson's fourth birthday which was a real treat. You can tell from the photo that he enjoyed it, too!
I did manage to get some work done in the mini collage journal ( know you'll recognize this first one from last week, with what I expect to be the final tweeks).
I also manage to make a colossal mess of one of my tables when I cut, and cut, and cut more circles.
I did manage to get a start on the floral collage in that travel signature from last week, though, and the table did finally get sorted (into anothe ..read more

...I'd say.
There's just something about fall that pulls me into the studio. Normally, it's the cooler weather, but that hasn't been the case this week, so I'm blaming it on the colour.
I'd planned on using the leftover circular 'flowers' from last week to add to the floral travel journal as auditioned below. I can see that I need some more, though, so that's a project for leftover paper bits this coming week.
I particularly like this one on the lower right.
I found a toilet roll holder lurking as I was on a cleaning binge, so I turned it into this 'somethi ..read more

...a summer to remember? The Creston valley was so hot in July that we were sitting in 36 degree weather in the shade as we enjoyed our family reunion. In August, a visit from John's son arrived with showers and the perfect weather for that coastal man. September is so confused that I'm wearing a winter coat as I walk to the gym in the morning, and I'm sporting my bikini (if I had one) in the afternoon when it hits 24 degrees. The best part? There was no fire season in our area this year, and very little smoke. That's a welcome relief from the las ..read more

I'm going to take a blogging break. It's time for me to follow the sunshine and spend some extra precious moments with the family, starting with an upcoming family reunion.
In the meantime, I'm wishing you the best of all the sunshine you can enjoy, as well as festivals, lake time, vacations and happy days. See you in the fall!!  ..read more

...to be a day later than I suspect. Summers are just like that, aren't they?
I did manage to do some work on some small collages, and will just keep at it (forever?). It's so fascinating to see what bits of scraps can do when they play together.
Here's to endless experimentation with bits of paper and a wide range of colours. . .  ..read more

but no dollar short, which is good, right?
I've really been outfoxed by time this week - finding even a moment to work on the small collages has been near impossible. However, where there's a will, there are relatives, and I did manage to locate some time this morning.
Given the preponderance of red, it's clear I was working in the front of the book. Maybe I'll play near the end next week and go with a primarily purple palette! In the meantime, apologies for the poorly cropped and framed photos, but I'm quickly on my way over to catch up with your doings ..read more

and a wee bit of colour is always so much fun, right? This week has seen me adding the final collage starts to the inspiration journal, and it definitely seems full.
As chock-a-block as it is, I wonder whether the addition of words will engender an explosive reaction? Eighty words in an already crammed journal seems like it might be a not-so-good trigger. I'll let you know next week if the studio is overrun with exploded page fragments. ?
In the meantime, let's hear what you've been up to...I'll just pop over and see, shall I?   ..read more

and goodness knows how that happened. What with guests from out of town this week, the paving of the condo (and all the noise and kerfuffle that entails), training new lawncare staff and etcetera, I'm obviously a little out of it all.
Nonetheless, having some time in the studio meant that some collage starts made it into the inspiration book...
and some black and white pieces were chopped in preparation for the last signature.
Then the work really begins! I do hope that your week was calm, relaxing and creatively fulfilling! See yo ..read more

...week means there was little progress in the studio. Still working on the collages for the signatures, I was amused to find that this week I've been working in the same two colours on each of the tables.
The purple and magenta theme is carried from signatures through to a unicorn.
Bit by bit, I suspect there will be a host of colours
show up in these,
given how well they play with so many hues.
I'm hoping there will be more progress next week, as I hope that you've had a much more productive studio week than what happened here. In the meantime, wishing yo ..read more
