On Thursday, the Council for Geoscience (CGS) officially confirmed widespread speculation about an earthquake striking Cape Town on Wednesday afternoon, with a magnitude of 1.4.
The CGS, responsible for monitoring seismic activity nationwide, reported that the quake occurred at approximately 17:37 local time.

A bus transporting congregants from Botswana to Moria fell off a bridge, crashed and caught fire on Thursday, 28 March.

The IEC has come to a decision that former Jacob Zuma should not be part of the 29 May elections.

Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Land Reform, Thoko Didiza, has announced plans to tighten regulations on the export of live animals, in response to a parlimentary question.
This follows the events in Cape Town last month when a foul smell engulfed the city. The source of the smell came from 19 000 cattle, kept in “deplorable conditions”, aboard a ship in the Cape Town harbour.
