dot-art’s Managing Director Lucy Byrne was honoured to be asked to sit on the Selection Panel to choose an artist to design a permanent monument to reknowned American statesman and campaigner at the theatre. 164 years since the prominent abolitionist Frederick Douglass spoke at Hope Hall (now the site of the Everyman Theatre), Liverpool Everyman has unveiled a plaque on the front of its building, designed by Liverpool born artist Vicki Opomu. dot-art have been collaborating with Everyman and Playhouse for now 5 residences in their beautiful theatres. We bring together theatre and visual art by embedding practising local artists within the theatre’s spaces, animating public areas and creating a body of work for exhibition. A new, outdoor pop-up exhibition at Liverpool ONE tells the history of the Liverpool City Region, its people and green spaces through trees and calls on locals to share their own pictures and stories. On Friday 16th February a 20-metre-long art display on School Lane and multiple tree integrated displays on Paradise Street were unveiled showcasing photographs, stories and poems about trees submitted by residents across the region. 2023 was a big year for dot-art! Mainly because it saw the return of Liverpool Art Fair after a couple years on pause from COVID. dot-art produced exhibitions in dot-art Gallery, The Everyman, Royal Liver Building and INNSiDE by Melia as well as online in our Virtual Exhibitions space.
