Soooo…the WNBA all-star game broke the record for most viewers ever in their history. That’s what they say. Someone please tell me how they figure out how many people actually watch the game on TV? I have asked some people in the media and they don’t know!!! I watched, it was awesome. Players got after it. They competed. I thought Caitlin Clark was going to break the record for most assists in an all-star game (11 by Sue Bird) but she ended up with 10. Mark my word, she’ll break it someday. And this is the woman who is the all-time scoring leader in women’s college basketball history. The Men ..read more

Team USA was in action against South Sudan in a friendly game prepping for the Olympics. South Sudan gave the Americans all they could handle. It took a LeBron James drive to the basket for a layup with eight seconds left to secure the win. South Sudan, at one point in the game led by 16, had a couple of chances at the end to take the lead but they came up short. USA did not shoot the ball well from deep, 7 for 28. South Sudan made 14 3’s. LeBron led the way with 25 points. Carlik Jones of South Sudan put up a triple-double; 15 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. Saturday night the Women’s Nat ..read more

Wednesday night Caitlin Clark broke the WNBA record for most assists in a game with 19 against the Dallas Wings. But it wasn’t enough as Dallas came out on top, 101-93. Clark also added 24 points and 6 rebounds. She scored or assisted on 66 points for the Fever, the most in a game in WNBA history. Clark is the first rookie and ninth player overall in WNBA history with at least 400 points and 200 assists in a season. In men’s action, Team USA defeated Serbia on Wednesday, 105-79. The Indiana Fever went into the Target Center in Minneapolis on Sunday and beat the Minnesota Lynx, 81-74. Aliyah Boston scored 17 points and had 16 rebounds on an 8-of-11 shooting performance. Kelsey Mitchell finished with a game-high 21 points, including 14 after halftime. NaLyssa Smith scored 11 points. Caitlin Clark had 17 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists. The side story is how Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve acted/responded to a couple of questions thrown her way before the game. Reeve seemingly had no interest in discussing Clark’s status as a potential member of a future national team when ..read more

Carolyn Peck, a women’s basketball analyst for ESPN and Dawn Staley, the head coach of South Carolina women’s basketball team both say that Angel Reese is the WNBA Rookie-of-The-Year. I try hard to see how they can make a statement like that when Caitlin Clark is a rookie and clearly the best rookie in the WNBA. When I talk to basketball people and read a few things on-line or hear others talk about it, I realize why these two women say such a thing. But I am not going to go into it, I really don’t want to go down that avenue. I’ll leave it to Jason Whitlock and Dan Dakich, they have done a fa ..read more

Watched the Indiana Fever host the Phoenix Mercury Friday night. I love watching Indiana; mainly Caitlin Clark. And I’m slowly getting into the WNBA. Hard to get into the NBA Summer League. I need my hoop fix. Fever won 95-86. This, after having a 31-point lead late in the 3rd quarter. Clark led the way for Indiana with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 13 assists. Clark has now recorded a double-double in five straight games. The league record is six. Mercury were playing without Diana Taurasi and Natasha Cloud. Brittany Griner was hurt in the first half and never returned. Kahleah Cooper led Phoenix ..read more
