I started quilting about 20 years ago. I have grown to love it more and more and am now joining the world of longarm quilting. I also enjoy dyeing fabric, sewing clothes, singing and being a wife and mother. I hope to share a little bit of my world with you.

In amongst all of the client quilts that filtered through my studio, I did manage to finish a Christmas gift for my mother and father in law. They downsized into a new place over the summer and bought some new smaller furniture including a new kitchen table, so a set of placemats and table runner to match was a fun idea.
I chose one of our Highway 10 Designs patterns called Detour. I found the fabrics at a quilt retreat when Oma's quilt shop was a vendor. The main fabric is from the Northcott Stonehenge Surfaces collection with coordinates from Northcott basics collecti ..read more

Becky made this fabulous Book Nook quilt as a surprise Christmas gift for her teenage daughter. The pattern is by Pen and Paper patterns.
Becky found some great fabrics for this quilt. I love the striped fabric that she used for the pages. The other fabrics led us directly to the selection of the Joust pantograph that echoes the Fleur de Lis motifs from a few of the prints.
The pretty pink backing was a really nice finish as well ..read more

Two Canadian themed quilts came through my studio this month. This first was made by Donna for her brother who lives in Thailand. The pattern is called Glorious and Free by the Quilter on Fire.
All the fabrics that Donna used are from the Oh Canada collections from Northcott. I really love the combinations she used. The Bora Bora pantograph was a lovely choice. I see leaves gently blowing in the wind.
The second quilt was made by Myrna for an exchange student that is staying with a family member. All the fabrics are also form the Northcott Oh Canada ..read more

This pretty little quilt was a team effort between three lovely ladies. Michelle had a special quilt that she loved as a child that her grandmother had made for her. She wanted her daughter to have something similar, but she herself is not (yet) a quilter. She enlisted the help of her mother-in law Deann and Auntie-in-law Eileen who were more than willing to make this wish come true.
Michelle selected the Pinwheel Patch pattern and fabric was purchased from Needle Craft and Studio in Beausejour. The three worked together to create the top and then I got invited to ..read more

Marion made this striking quilt for her grandson. The fabric is a collection from Northcott called Aurora Borealis.
Originally Marion thought that she might prefer custom quilting to highlight some of the motifs in the panel. We discussed the pros and cons and other options. When looking at different pantogrpahs, Marion turned the Bora Bora pantograph from its usual horizontal orientation to a vertical one that echoed the designs in the panel and it was the perfect idea!
The quilting shows up amazingly well on the Cuddle backing. We used a shiny purple thread o ..read more

Carol brought two lovely quilts for some quilting. First up is this lovely evergreen quilt.
Carol chose the Soho pantograph and provided green Fireside backing which shows off the quilting so well.
The second quilt is this classic Attic Window. The bird print that Carol chose for the windows is just lovely and this setting really showcases it.
The Breath of the Gods pantograph was Carol's choice and I think it adds a nice light touch to the quilt.

Kris brought not one but two of these Thimbleberries Village quilts. Her mom had started them but didn't have the opportunity to finish them. Kris took on the challenge to finish them and give them to her daughters for Christmas.
After looking at a few different pantograph options Kris felt the the Pieces of my Heart pantograph fit just perfectly and I have to agree.
The quilts are almost identical except for the borders and different colored backings. I think these will be special memories that will be truly cherished ..read more

Tina made this cheerful Postcards From Sweden quilt for a friend. The pattern is by Kelly Liddle for Jelli Quilts and uses 36 different fabric colours.
Tina selected the Canva pantograph and a bright yellow thread that matches her binding fabric. I have pictures of the quilt complete with binding because Tina opted to have the binding added by my associate Marion.
A super cozy Cuddletex backing in a pretty teal color tied the whole thing together perfectly ..read more

Patrice brought this wonderfully scrappy quilt. The squares are cut at 2" and I'm sure that although it is a lot of sewing, it didn't make a much of a dent in the scrap basket.
I love that Patrice used an interesting color for the background, as we often reach for white or cream when beginning a scrappy project.
Patrice chose the Calder pantograph which looks great on the front and coordinating backing.
Joanne had been in visiting Patrice and she made this lovely pastel batik quilt.
She selected the Gingersnap pantograph. I love the small pieced strip that ..read more
