I have been quilting for over 20 years and have turned my passion for quilting into a home business. This blog is where I share photos of my quilts as well as my clients quilts. I have thrown in few personal stories about living on the shores of Schist Lake and now I'm ready to explore and share photos of the area around Emo, Ontario as life isn't all about quilting.

Gail made this fun Just My Type quilt, pattern by Pen and Paper Patterns. She used a variety of fabrics from her stash to create her floral version of this pattern. I watched Gail make this quilt over the last few months at our quilting group that meets once a week. It was fun to see what letters she finished each week.
I took the above picture yesterday, no snow and mild temperatures. Then today we had 3 inches of rain with the possibility of it turning to snow tonight. So we might wake up to some snow on the ground.
Gail ask for the Gatsby pantograph, a ..read more

I have been busy making items for the local Christmas markets happening from now until early December. I'm sewing as fast as I can for my next market on the November 15+16th. Large bags, small bags, pouches, wristlets and my laser cut signs. My goal it to have different items than I did from the last Spring Markets.
Just finished this sweet Chickadee Basket! I have been making more Linen Divided Baskets as they are a great seller.
I was working on this Raven themed Aberdeen Tote at a quilt retreat and it was claimed before I had even finished sewing it! Will ..read more

This might come as a surprise to my friends/readers that Lori and I have published another Highway 10 Designs quilt pattern after a 2 year hiatus. We found our design mojo again and are very happy to introduce you to our Butter Tarts quilt!
This is a fat quarter friendly pattern ranging in sizes from Baby to Queen.
Butter Tarts are a wonderful Canadian treat, but come with a great debate...raisin or no raisins. Very similar to the decision we making when piecing a quilt top...borders or no borders. The name seemed to fit our quilt pattern beautifully as we ..read more

Gail pieced this lovely Book Nook quilt, pattern by Pen & Paper Patterns. She used the fabric collection by Kate & Birdie called From Far and Wide.
Gail asked for maple leaves for the quilting and I had the perfect pantograph, Maple Syrup.
The leaves are finally turning colours here and the air is cooler. Its been very windy so that makes the outdoor pictures challenging.
Last night we had a nice display of the Northern Lights here in Emo. They were very red compared to other aurora I have seen here before. I love how they move from re ..read more

I have been busy longarm quilting this month, just not taking the time to photograph them like I once did. But I still enjoy blogging once in awhile so here are two quilts made by Lori that I finished this weekend. They are both Connecting Threads patterns and this one is called 'Skylights'.
I quilted it with the Ebb and Flow pantograph, used black So Fine thread and Lori brought black poly Quilters Dream batting.
The second quilt Lori brought is called the 'Almost Quilt'. I used the Plush pantograph, black So Fine thread and her black poly Quilters Dream batting ..read more

If you follow my Instagram you will know I'm obsessed with hummingbirds. These past two weeks I have been sharing videos of feeding them with a hand feeder and a few have landed on my hand. Pure joy! I fill my garden full of flowers that they love and I can spend all day just watching and taking photos of these tiny birds. Our summers are short and they will be migrating south soon so I'm enjoying my last couple of weeks with them.
I have this glass feeder I put in the maple tree that they love and guard furiously.
They also like to guard the ..read more

Summer has been flying by as usual here in NW Ontario. No sewing or quilting happening as I have been spending my days out in the garden or on the lakes kayaking. Also keeping busy with my favorite summer activity birdwatching and bird photography. I am enjoying the hummingbirds but we definitely have fewer birds this year. I also would go every Sunday from mid May to mid July to see the Herons in their rookery on the highway near our place. We watched all 15 nest activity transition from sitting on eggs to the hatching to the feeding then fledging ..read more
