“Purr-fect in every pose, Simon is the most photogenic kitty ever!” exclaims an excited Claudia. “My husband saw his picture on the Furry Friends website and that was that. We knew we wanted him. He fits right in with our family. We’re so happy to have Simon here with us. He’s brought a lot of love and laughter to the house. He’s most loving and wants pets and hugs in the mornings or right after he wakes up. Then it’s playtime! “To say he’s very playful is putting it mildly. He LOVES playing hide and seek, playing in paper bags, and thinks it’s playtime whenever we come home with the grocerie ..read more

I began volunteering with Furry Friends in December 2022. I wanted to do something more with my life, so I posted on the NextDoor app asking about local volunteer opportunities. Furry Friends was suggested with overwhelmingly positive reviews! Because I hadn’t been able to get a cat of my own since moving out of my parents’ house, I was desperate to get some “cat love,” so I went for it. (I’m a young adult still finding her footing in life after graduating from WSU). I applied online and the rest is history. volunteer at the Halfway House for two hours every other week since I also work the w ..read more

“Rosey, whose original name was Freckles, is our second cat,” Jennifer says. “We adopted her for our daughter Kady who fell in love with her on sight. “Her adjustment to living with us was immediate. She fit right in. Despite having had surgery prior to us adopting her, as soon as she healed up, she started bossing the dogs around! “Rosey brings us lots of joy, and we adore her. She is a really affectionate cat. She purrs all the time, demands a great deal of attention, and thoroughly enjoys being petted and cuddled. She even enjoys cuddling with the dogs. “Not only is she very affectionate ..read more

I began volunteering for Furry Friends in June 2023. Eager to add a third cat to my family, I embarked on a mission to quell my feline yearnings. Opting to explore volunteering at a shelter as a potential solution, I discovered Furry Friends during my search for suitable cat shelters. Despite my initial intent to satisfy my cat cravings through volunteering, the inevitable happened: I ended up with a third cat anyway. It seems my love for these furry companions knows no bounds! I undertake various responsibilities that contribute to the well-being of our feline residents. This includes the ro ..read more

“Roo, whose nickname is Roodles, is actually the third addition to our family,” says Kylee. “We adopted our second kitty Macie through Furry Friends as well about five years ago. “We had originally wanted to meet Roo’s brother, but he was part of a bonded pair. After discussing what the fosters thought about bringing another female cat into the mix, I met Roo and instantly knew she was the perfect fit. “Roo did great immediately! Maverick, our first male kitty, took a couple of days before he wanted to be friends with her, but now you can find them giving each other baths, wrestling and snugg ..read more

I have been volunteering with Furry Friends since February of 2023. I decided to volunteer at some sort of rescue when I started to “get an itch” to get another cat! I thought that volunteering would scratch that itch and I wouldn’t have to adopt another one. Two months later, we adopted our little girl Rhubarb (previously Phoenix), who joined our 5-year-old Siamese mix named Rosie and our 3-year-old German Shepherd named Juniper. At the shelter I clean the rooms of, and socialize with, the kitties in the Green and Blue rooms. I’m on the Saturday morning crew and I pick up morning shifts thro ..read more

“Frankie, formerly Firefly, is our first kitty as a couple,” Ali says. “I’ve had cats my whole life while she’s Emerson’s first cat. “We chose Frankie because of her sweet face and unique coat. We also were further encouraged when we met her, and her foster mom described how sweet and snuggly she was. She adjusted pretty well to our home. Initially, she was a little scared, but she simply needed extra snuggles and love to help her become acclimated. “Frankie adds so much joy, love and fun to our lives. Since cats have always been part of my life, I knew how beneficial and therapeutic their lo ..read more

Doriel began volunteering with Furry Friends in the middle of 2023, after moving to Washington from Colorado the previous year. Not only was she looking for a cause that she felt drawn to, she also wanted to give back to the community that she now resided in. Despite living with the challenge of Type-1 diabetes, she works at the Halfway House for two hours every Wednesday. What she loves most about volunteering is two-fold: the fact that we’re helping cats who otherwise wouldn’t have a second chance at life and the pleasure of getting to know fellow animal lovers. A dedicated pet person, she ..read more
