My back is somewhat better (thank you for all your good wishes), so I was able to sew a little this week. But first ....
What's in the bag? Last week, Carole brought me two more scrap bags. I wanted to see if there was some yellow in there. Want to see?
I pulled out many bags from the first bag. The second one is the "A" bag. The H&M bag is full of small scraps.
This is the loot from the purple bag. Lots of pink on the right. It will surely topped my pink scrap basket. The batting in the middle is not the kind I'm use to. It feels like it's for stuffing pillows or somethi ..read more

Does un-stitching count as productivity? I did more of that than sewing itself. My back is acting up this week and I did what I could instead of what I wanted. 😑
Helene gave me lots of flannelette (see this post) along with receiving blankets she had made by zigzagging the folded edges of the fabric …
… I decided to undo one. I want to use it for the backing of this top.
It's not a perfect match but it is much better than what I could come up with from my stash. Bonus, it is big enough so no pieced-backing for this one. So, un-stitching happened.
While I put my things f ..read more

What did I do at the retreat? I slept! We, Lucie and I, got there on Friday around 5p.m. We said hello to everyone, had a quick bite, unpack our personal things in our respective bedrooms and set up our machines. Then came Saturday morning, it was sewing time. By 7p.m. on Saturday, I was a walking zombie. So, I went and laid down for a short nap. I woke up at 5a.m. Sunday morning. Still fully dressed. Slept for 10 hours straight. I needed this so much. But, sew, I did.

I'm back from the retreat and what a fun one it was. As always!
Saturday morning photo. How can I get tired of looking at this? I can't.
This cute little mat is made by Claire. She doesn't come to this retreat but she participates in a different group. She did one for all the girls in her group and two of them are in my group, so I got the chance to see this cutie.
Josee brought Izzy along. He's also an artist of the paint and brush kind.
His brush, palette and canvas are stored in his bag. So small. Check the ruler on my machine for scale.
Then he walked a ..read more

I sure have a lot of SHIBs. It seems like all I see lately are SHIBs.
Com'on! I'm sure I'm not the only who has some SHIBs! Look around you. Surely, you see a SHIB or two.
Aren't these blocks beautiful? One has an appointment with the surgeon later today. They came to me in a bag.
What do you mean you don't know what a SHIB is? Squirrels Hiding In Bags, of course.
I got these 3 little pieces of fabric with sheep on it. I lay one facedown so you can see how light the print is. What to do with only 3 little squares? So, I thought ...

I thought the spool and the bobbin would finish at the same time or pretty close.
I was wrong.
The bobbin ended first. There was still quite a lot on the cone. Yes, I was still sewing pink and drank coffee from my orange cup and not a Tim Horton's coffee. I rarely get a chance to have a Tim. Anywho!
... the next day ...
... this came crawling up my machine. The cone was done too. It was very anti-climax.
On Tuesday, I went to the Artisanat group meeting and came back home with, yes, again, more gifted bags.
At the bottom left, I love those circles on t ..read more

It will not be the last day of sewing Pink for me as my Pink scrap basket is not finished.
But I will work with BLUE too. Yay! Blue! ???
The little HSTs, turned into these pointy blocks, will be group together in this fashion. A blue and a purple were made from the latest scrap bags. I thought of showing my plan for these blocks. I call this project "Bonus Points".
And of course, the ever faithful 9-Patch. I love that cat print.
What's in the bag?
Now if you are curious to see what's in the bag, here's some pictures. (If not, just skip to the bottom.) I won't do this every t ..read more

Do you know what I don't have? I don't have a pink scrap basket! I know, right? I never had enough pink scraps to make a basket. Well that has changed (drastically) in the past few weeks. I have MORE than enough pink scraps to make a basket. Let's sew this.
Aren't those Lemures fun? Yes, it came from the big bag.
Because I wanted to keep the "Paris Flea Market" selvage of the roses print (on the right), I simply sew it on top of the light pink. Unfortunately, when one sews after a long day at work...

Pink is not one of my favourite colour so I'm starting to have enough of Pink.
I sew Pink
Crumb Blocks
and Pink
Bonus Points units (the last one is not that dark, it's more salmon)
and Pink
Friends' Favourite base units.
(I had to cheat a little with the one on the right. I love this print and it's the first time I see it in pink. It was just not 3.5". The seams are just not a quarter inch. Ha! They all came from the bags.)

More of the RSC2025 block were made last weekend. I calculated 10 blocks of each 8 colours (all colours plus Aqua) would make a good size quilt. I believe I will call this one April Fool.
It is a very simple block. One unit repeated 4 times but one with reversed value.
In the picture below, all 4 units are the same. This is how the quilt from Pinterest is constructed. See last post.
Pair one 2.5" square print with a white one then sew a 2.5 X 4.5" print. For the reversed, in the monochrome blocks, just use a white rectangle.
The monochrome blocks need a scrap of a ..read more
