As you move through the suggested postures below, we’d encourage you to take a few moments to wri ..read more

Tell us a bit about your background and your meditation  journey. I am half Japanese and Sri Lankan, having lived in Japan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Kenya and the UK throughout my life.  I was brought up in a close knit family that upheld Buddhist philosophies and Eastern traditions and values. From a young age, I was drawn to such philosophies and wisdom as a way of life and mindfulness and meditation have been invaluable practices in my journey. I studied Economics at the LSE within which I was particularly interested in the teachings of Psychology and a Masters degree from SOAS ..read more

Tell us a bit about your background and your yoga journey… Born and raised on the sandy shores of the East Coast of South Africa, I danced through childhood barefoot, with the earth beneath my feet as my constant companion. In those early years, I found solace and clarity in nature, feeling an innate sense of grounding that eluded definition. Yet, as the years unfolded, the cacophony of the world grew louder, and I momentarily lost sight of the path that once felt so clear. It was during the crossroads of late teens and early adulthood that fate led me to the threshold of a humble yoga studio ..read more

Tell us a bit about yourself…  I started yoga in 2001 as I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. At the time, I was addicted to step aerobics, spinning and Gauloises Blondes. I was teaching at University College Dublin while writing a PhD thesis. I also spent 7 hours a week in the gym, smoked 30 cigarettes a day, and had a busy social life. I thought sleep was overrated. I hated the word ‘balance’ and thought that life was all about pushing boundaries.  Luckily, my body said ‘no’ and forced me to change my life completely.  I have to admit that I went to my first yoga class rel ..read more

This sequence looks like your basic sun salutation. You are not saluting the Sun in the Journey of Ra, you are Ra – on the Hero’s journey. The symbolic story of Ra, in short, is going down into the underworld battling enemies of fear, ignorance and doubt and rising victoriously. Taui This is a form of Mountain pose used in Hatha called Har meaning ‘On high’ and Djed Asar which engages the spine and core while palms of the hands are pressed together with the thumbs pushing up into the sternum. This pressing of the hands together is a gesture that is timeless and universal. Often called a prayer ..read more
