Fylde’s Mini-Junior Section has many fine players and some great spirit and camaraderie. It’s great to celebrate the end of a long and successful season amongst all the players but also the coaches, team managers and parental helpers who support them. However, we must draw attention to the U’13s team. Earlier in the season they won their section of the Lancashire RFU age group leagues with outstanding play, someway ahead of all their rivals. To put the tin lid on it, they followed this up by winning the end of season Lancashire Rugby Cup held yesterday at Bolton Rugby Club. As team manager Gar ..read more

Fylde’s victory leaves the table-topping Tykes only three points ahead of second-placed Rotherham, who have a game in hand. “We were very happy with that,” Loney said of a win which se ..read more

Fylde 18-15 Leeds Tykes: match report by Stuart McCracken Fylde put a huge dent in Leeds Tykes promotion charge with a massive win in their last game of the season at the Woodlands to give Rotherham Titans the advantage in the National Two North title race. First-half tries from Adam Lanigan and Fylde’s top try scorer Ben Gregory gave the Lancastrians a 15-7 advantage at the interval against an opponent they hadn’t faced at the Woodlands since 1998. It was a tale of sheer defensive effort in the second-half from Fylde, who stayed resolute to the very end to restrict Leeds to just one try in th ..read more

Hull 39 v Fylde 36: report by Simon Taylor Fylde travelled down the familiar highway to Hull once more to take part in a high scoring and highly entertaining try fest. In a game where the lead changed hands several times, they twice came back from a 10-point deficit and outscored the hosts by 6 tries to 5, only to concede a 78th minute try that edged Hull back in front for a final time. Turning down a late penalty shot at goal which would have tied the game and given them an extra point, not really part of their rugby DNA anyway, they boldly chose to go for the try that would have given them a ..read more

Fylde face a very tough challenge when they visit the Ferens Ground to take on Hull RUFC on Saturday (ko 14.00). Although Fylde are in 5th place in National 2 (North) have a 15 point advantage over the East Yorkshire club in 8th, on the evidence of the game between the two clubs on 6th January at the Woodlands then the visitors will be hard pressed to come away with league points. Although on paper Fylde’s 38-5 win looked like a walk in the park, it was anything but. Hull had 70% of territory and possession and only Fylde’s heroic defence, and their ability to strike from anywhere on the pitch ..read more
