Some 20 years ago a powerful young man made his senior debut for North Staffordshire club Longton RFC in his native Potteries. Hull 39 v Fylde 36: report by Simon Taylor Fylde travelled down the familiar highway to Hull once more to take part in a high scoring and highly entertaining try fest. The four National League divisions (National One, National Two North, National Two East & National Two West) all are approaching exciting promotion climaxes with just three games to go in the 2023-24 season. When the two 16 team National Two divisions (North & South) were reorganised for the 2022-23 campaign into three 14 team leagues, the promotion/relegation arrangements changed too. Instead of two clubs being promoted it reduced to just one and this was mirrored in the various regional divisions below the National Leagues. As a club, we’ve had a long and close relationship with UCLan’s School of Journalism. We’ve always been keen to support young sports journalists and giving them access to the coverage of rugby at our level. Ahead of the 2021-22 season we appointed Elliot Burrow to write reports of our 1st XV matches at the Woodlands.
