The University of Worcester Warriors dusted off the cobwebs at the Alpas Arena, but their last minute 3 try run in wasn’t enough to secure victory against local rivals Gloucester-Hartpury. Warriors were slow to start the first half, going down 29-0 in the first 30minutes, as the home side took full advantage dotting down 5 times before Warriors Centre Carys Cox was sent to the sin bin following a team warning. Fellow teammate Stef Evans joined her shortly after for ill-discipline at scrum time. The cherry & whites capitalised with some quick hands from the scrum to see their tally reach 41 ..read more

University of Worcester Warriors made it two wins on the bounce at the start of their Allianz Cup campaign with a thrilling last-gasp victory at Sandy Park. Warriors were 21-8 down nine minutes into the second-half but a penalty from Leagh Brough reduced the deficit to ten points three minutes later. Back-row forward Charlotte Wright-Haley then scored an unconverted try midway through the second half to take Warriors within a converted try of victory. Hooker El Febrey levelled the score three minutes from time and Brough, a product of the club’s thriving Centre of Excellence, added a nerveless ..read more

The atmosphere was subdued before kick-off as supporters considered the uncertain future of the club but a performance that was brimming with pride, passion and resilience soon lifted spirits. Quite what will happen on Monday when the club’s public liability insurance expires and the absentee owners have to satisfy some stringent criteria laid down by the RFU if Warriors are not to be suspended from competitive rugby.
