Olivia Hunter receiving a Vic Young Polo, Cap and Hoody from John Dove DCRFU President for refereeing more than 25 Schools Union games. Olivia plays at Hartlepool Rovers and has also joined the Durham Referees Society. She has undertaken her first Men’s Level 9 League Match and shows a great deal of promise. Safeguarding advice and requirements for Durham County RFU Clubs returning to Rugby training as per the RFU guidelines and regulations. See below the key points raised by our Safeguarding Officer; Paul Geehan 1. Training cannot commence until a Risk Assessment is completed by coaching staff and signed and approved by club management/board/committee have also signed and authorised the restart. 2. Tonight, Friday 24th April 2020, should have been the YMO Celebration evening, hosted at Kingston Park and Sponsored by Vic Young (South Shields) Ltd. We would still like to celebrate our amazing YMO’s who have been working hard all season to achieve their Durham County RFU Caps. Durham County RFU have recently featured in the England Rugby Touchline update for pioneering the way with our YMO Programme. The Schools Union YMO programme is proudly sponsored by Vic Young (South Shields) Ltd. 2019-2020 was a successful year for Durham County RFU Schools Union County Cup Competitions. The 150 School Union events that took place throughout the season helped to develop the skills of the YMO’s. Many thanks to the Durham County Referee Society for supporting the YMO programme, and helping to mentor the students. This Sunday, 15th March, sees Durham U20 take on Yorkshire U20 in the Jason Leonard Championship

Durham County RFU are hosting Yorkshire U20 in the Jason Leonard Championship, the game will be played at Stockton RFC, 2:15pm KO. Durham RFU lost to Lancashire in January, with quite literally the last kick of the game, then in February Lancashire went on to defeat Yorkshire. Sunday’s game is a crunch match with the winner carrying on in the Championship Quarter-Finals with the losing County being relegated to the Second Division of the Championship.
