Plenty of rugby again around the globe. On the west side we have Hollie Davidson (pictured bottom left) in Ottawa to oversee the hosts Canada play Romania and Jordan Way is in a very sticky Washington DC as the Eagles play Scotland. On the other side of the planet, Nic Berry (top left) will be at Eden Park as the All Blacks try and and maintain their epic record of never losing a men’s international there, against England. Sara Cox (top right) is refereeing the sole women’s international as the Wallaroos play the Black Ferns for the Laurie O’Reilly Cup in Brisbane. We have all the other men’s ..read more

One of the few weekends in our rugby year with predominantly only international level fare on offer. Sure we’ll survive! Paul Williams kicks things off in Samoa (v Italy), with his Kiwi compadre, Angus Mabey (pictured top right) refereeing his first test on the either side of the date line, as he becomes NZ’s 88th test referee in an Independence Day match between USA and Romania. With summer tours all over the place, the big one seems to be the All Blacks hosting England in Dunedin. Georgia’s Nika Amashukeli (top left) is the man with the whistle. There’s the one women’s international with Ta ..read more

Aurélie is refereeing the WXV play off match between Wales and Spain in Cardiff. The outcome of the match will determine which goes to South Africa and WXV 2 and who goes to Dubai for WXV3 in September. Cayre will take charge of his first Top 14 Grand Final with Toulouse playing Bordeaux in Marseille with the Stade de France out of action ahead of the Olympics. It’s one of the quieter weekends in the rugby calendar as many leagues/comps have finished, or are at semi-final stages, and we’re outside the men’s international window too. We, therefore, have one of the shorter referee appointments lists of the year. But still enough out there if you go hunting. Tyler Miller (pictured top left) is in refereeing action in Suva as Fiji host Japan for the first of two tests matches as they both start to ramp up towards WXV. It’s the final of the Super Rugby Americas competition and Damian Schneider (top right) from Argentina will take charge of his third regi ..read more

Over in Toulouse, Adrien Marbot (bottom left) to referee the ProD2 final between Grenoble and Vannes which sees the winners promoted to the Top14 next season. Two great finals! Blog: Why the cereal cupboard is like refereeing the law book

I opened the pantry door the other day and it struck me how similar refereeing and the law book is to the sight that greeted me.  Context – I live in a house with a wife, a cat and now two teenagers. (The latter of which turned 13 this week(!!)) And thus, we eat a lot of cereal. We all like different things. There’s a choice for every palette. Some days* I like to mix up to four or five things for the perfect bowl. Sometimes, I only need one. And that’s like the law book and refereeing.  We don’t need to use them all at any given time. Sometimes we want to. Sometimes we ne ..read more
