A big congratulations goes out this week to Mi Jung Hur  for winning the Indy Women In Tech championship. This one was no contest as Hur won it wire to wire. Her final score of 267 (21 under par) was five strokes better than runner-up Nanna Koerstz Madsen. For Hur it was her second victory this year and fourth of her career. This week the LPGA moves to the state of Texas for the playing of the Volunteers of America Classic. Many of my readers will probably remember (or want to forget) last year's fiasco where the tournament was shortened to just 36 holes because of inclement weather ..read more

With the LPGA  off this week, I would like to take this opportunity to look at the players that have taken the biggest leaps and the biggest falls in the Rolex Rankings in 2019.  I last did this back in May when the LPGA had completed just 33% of its schedule. Now they have completed about 75% of their schedule and things have changed quite dramatically. The Rolex Rankings system awards points to players based on an accumulated 104-week "rolling" period, with the points awarded in the most recent 13-week period carrying a stronger value. A player is then ranked according to her average point ..read more

Team Europe Wins Solheim Cup - Pettersen Retires.

Team Europe   In what was probably the most exciting finish in Solheim Cup history, Team Europe defeated Team USA 14 1/2 to13 1/2 to win the 2019 Solheim Cup. Team USA needed just 1/2 point more to retain the cup, but failed to do so in dramatic fashion. With two matches still to be completed, Team USA needed just to tie one of them to complete what would have been their third consecutive cup victory. It looked bleak for Team Europe. For them to pull it out, an improbable combination of three things had to happen. In about a 90 second span, the improbable became a reality. Marina Alex misse ..read more

Stacy Lewis has withdrawn from the 2019 Solheim Cup Team! Captain Juli Inkster has announced that Stacy Lewis has withdrawn from the 2019 Solheim Cup competition. The inaugural cup was held in 1990, and the event was staged in even numbered years until 2002, alternating years with the Ryder Cup (the equivalent men's event between the USA & Europe). Before I get started with this week's subject, I would like to give a big congratulations to Hannah Green for winning the Cambia Portland Classic. Hannah trailed Yealimi Noh by three strokes with just four holes to play, but won all of the remaining holes to win by one stroke. It was Green's second victory of the season. She won the KPMG Women's PGA Championship earlier in the year. With the LPGA taking a break this week, I think it's a good time to look at some of the key player statistics now that they have completed about 3/4 of the 2019 schedule.
