Our new shelter is up and running and the dogs are loving it! When we first began planning for the new shelter, we wanted to make sure that it was on a large piece of land that could be developed for the dogs and volunteers to enjoy. We recently had some fill dirt donated and have cleared and prepared the land for our many planned spaces -- including 3 fenced play yards, walking trails, landscaping, and a memorial garden. If this sounds like a lot, you'd be right! We've estimated that we'll need around $20,000 to accomplish all of this. But we did it once for our shelter, and we're not about ..read more

A Brief MPR Update
Missouri Pit Bull Rescue

What a busy couple of weeks! Ferdinand had his eye surgery and is doing 1,000 times better! He loves to run around a play. Thank you all for your donations and support. While we were figuring out Ferdinand, we got another medical case. Chase was hit during a high-speed car chase and his owners surrendered him since they couldn’t afford the medical care. Chase had a Femoral Head Osteotomy (FHO) this past week and is recovering in a foster home. His foster home is working on keeping him calm and kennel training him. You can help us fund Chase's medical care by donating here. Around the shelter ..read more

Brrr! It’s Cold Outside!

2018 has started off freezing! Even though the thermostat is set at 70° F, it gets chilly in the kennel area. We’ve installed dog houses in every kennel. Cracker Jack loves hanging out on top of his and Drumbeat loves snuggling inside of his. Most of the dogs love the dog houses while a few of the girls are getting used to them. Our newest dog Ferdinand has Entropion (eyelids fold inwards) and is having surgery this upcoming week. He’s not enjoying wearing a cone right now, but he’ll be a happy boy soon enough! If you'd like to help donate towards Ferdinand's surgery, you can do so here. By t ..read more

MPR has had a very exciting and busy Fall 2017! We completed the shelter to the point of “move in ready” and have moved in, and filled it with dogs. We filled it up to the capacity (11) very quickly and got busy with shelter shifts, organizing, and completing adoptions. A lot of work still needs to be completed, from fencing more play yards, walking paths, installing cabinets, and decorating. While our to do list is never ending, the pit bulls and volunteers are loving the new shelter! We’ve completed close to 100 adoptions in 2017 and opened up our very own pit bull shelter. It’s been a very ..read more

The shelter progress is still underway! Much of this work is all done by us, which means we don't have a big crew to speed things up. Here's a shot of the exterior kennels. They're almost finished and we think they look amazing ..read more

Oh HVAC... by the dawn's early light!

We're roughing in the HVAC this week. Central air, here we come! Next up - outdoor dog kennels and fencing. We've contacted several companies and are waiting on bids. Do you have a good fence company recommendation? Especially one who would give a discount to a non-profit? Please contact us! We've found some generous skilled laborers that are willing to work on the shelter at a discounted rate. They'll be able to help us speed up the build tremendously by working on framing walls, landscaping, construction, and more. Donate $10 for each hour - every hour makes a HUGE difference ..read more

The shelter is coming along nicely, but framing the interior walls is time-consuming work! Over the last two weeks, we got the concrete floors cleaned, prepped and sealed. Electrical and plumbing is in the works too. We're still looking for help with framing the interior walls, so if you or someone you know is able to help - please contact us! Did you see our little Ebony on KC Live? Ebony helped promote Weston's "Dog Days of Summer" by appearing in costume on KC Live! Missed it it? You can watch it here (she's at 3:42) on Youtube! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0jLn_OwAew Ebony is a true ..read more

The dog doors were hung at the shelter with care...

in hopes that some pit bulls soon would be there! Ok ok, maybe this isn't the best time of year to parody Christmas stories. Last week, dog doors were hung, locks and handles were installed on exterior doors, and we found some leads on HVAC work. This weekend we'll be power washing the concrete to prepare it for the epoxy. We still need 2x4's -- you can learn more about donating that here. We're also looking for volunteers to help with framing interior walls. The work will begin next Wednesday, July 6th. Preferably, we would love volunteers who have experience framing walls and the ability ..read more
