Photos Being Grouped Under Publisher Headings, Other News and Informal Survey

Happy Holidays Everyone! Not sure why I haven’t always shown all of the photos of the cloths together under each publisher heading. Possibly because newest features in the WordPress app make it much easier to do so only now. For example, in the caption under each photo, I can now add the link to the purchase page. It’s going to take a few days to post them all, but will announce which publisher group is completed as I go. Gave up on getting the Winter Holiday greeting cards and gift wraps printed, in part because of bad reviews from a printer I was considering. Will keep trying to find a print ..read more

Frosted Ferns aka Eiche aka Eichelwald – Pay As You Like

Frosted Ferns and EichelwaldEiche Charted this from written instructions back in 2005! Those instructions contained a frighteningly long float due to having to 30 stitches on Round 74 in order to resume the pattern at the correct point! Have seen the same requirement in other Nieblings that were published by U.S. companies but have absolutely no idea why it was necessary since I found it easy to eliminate. My 2005 version wasn’t published because a person who shall remain unnamed posted their copy on line. But since it is such a lovely “beginner” Niebling and it may no longer be accessible, I ..read more

Vobachs 401-34 – Happy Accident… Again! ;-)

The photo below is of my test knit of the pattern. Notice at the border there are two leaves instead of four, which I realized after knitting it! Nevermind that I initially recharted it correctly to contain four leaves! Apparently, upon copying the chart to another sheet in order to compress it to fit on one page and still be readable, I thought I had made a mistake. I hadn’t, and then proceeded to make one… Arrrgh! Turns out the Adaptations 2 and 3 are identical up to Row 77, the differences can be seen by comparing the charts. The good thing about the mistake is that it requires less yarn wi ..read more

Holiday Ornament Knitting – Head Start

When originally posting this I forgot to mention that the ornaments can be knitted on US Size 0 (2.00 mm) needles and Size 10 crochet thread (possibly metallic), instead of the semi-ridiculously small US Size 4-0 (1.25 mm) needles and Size 40 crochet thread as shown above. The doilies can be inserted in a picture frame as a gift, or as ornaments in a window, or on a relatively large Christmas tree. A second group comprised of more than 22 rounds will forthcoming in the following months, some of which are already completed. Meanwhile, for purchase info Click Here ..read more

Do Over/Happy Accident: Lavori 5-29 And Vobachs 401-34 Are Same Pattern + How to Make 2 Variations!

Due to shape of the cloth pictured in Lavori 5-29 (above – as knitted by Joan Posner), I did not realize that it is exactly the same pattern as Vobachs 401-34 (original photo below): I thus proceeded to rechart the Vobachs in order to convert the pattern to a coat as with the Lyra. To that end, I first recharted it as a semicircle in order to get a gauge for the coat; and am now test knitting it because it contains an unobvious arrangement of decreases along some of the edges, and will be posted in about a week or less. In addition, the rechart displays chart lines that have one to three sec ..read more
