hi everyone! my fiancé (22M) and I (22F) are considering eloping. we're thinking about getting married at the courthouse this year then in a year have the whole ceremony/ reception thing (he is going into the military), or having a big reception following the small courthouse wedding. This way would save us a ton of money since we are young and both finishing college this year. Would people find it rude if we included a registry, especially if we did the whole gathering in a year? submitted by /u/applebean352 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Where is everyone finding their photographers? I want to elope at Yosemite national park and found a photographer I really liked on Instagram and everything was going well, I almost swallowed the cost of her $8,800 quote because I like the quality of her photos until I came across one of her Instagram posts talking about how she markets herself to only a certain type of client that will pay her more and something about her wording gave me the ick. She basically said that she only takes high income clients because they are less problematic and won’t complain about her prices and I felt sad bec ..read more

Hey there everyone! Very recently engaged to my middle school sweetheart (15 yrs. knowing each other and 6 yrs together). We currently live in New York. We’ve always talked about an elopement instead of a traditional wedding. We have been thinking of the Redwoods (in California) or Yellowstone. These are just ideas. :) I would love to hear your stories and what worked vs. what didn’t! Any advice and ideas are welcome! Thanks!! <3 submitted by /u/AprilLori [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Struggling with the cost

My other half and I are planning on eloping next year in the Scottish Highlands, neither of us like a fuss or big weddings so it will be just us and I'd hate to even begin to think how much a 'normal' wedding would cost...! But looking at the cost of elopements is still a serious chunk of money. The photographer we're considering is £3500, which to me is an insane amount of money and then with the legal bits, the dress and suit, hair and makeup and the accommodation just for 2 nights, we're looking at nearly 6k! Just for one day..... I know that I'm terrible when it comes to spending money, I ..read more

Freaking out about eloping in Vegas, please help!

My fiance and I got engaged on March 10 of this year and want to elope this year in Vegas in December. The thing is I became super overwhelmed looking at all the elopement packages and pricing. I’ve juggled the idea of the chapels, simplyeloped, eloped in Vegas and even looked up hotel packages for the Bellagio and Caesars Palace. The thing is we really don’t want to spend a total of more than 5000 and everything from photographers to videographers is looking like it’ll push us much higher. Does anyone have advice on how to stay under budget and still have a memorable wedding? We’re thinking ..read more

Hello friends! I’m planning on eloping in an about one year from now (so exciting!!) I’ve already picked out where I want to get married and my fiance and I want it to be just us, our dog, an officiant, and a photographer. (Sidenote: how do I find an officiant? Do elopement photographers usually know if some? Im lost on this as well lol) anywho. Im wondering if we should take a few days to do a little mini vacation just the two of us? We want to have a party afterwards with everyone- but im thinking if we get married on a weekday, we can have a party with everyone the following weekend. I hav ..read more

My fiancé and I are eloping at the end of June in Nantucket. We are having a private beach ceremony around noon just the two of us and getting a fancy dinner later on in the evening. We are doing photos from getting ready, a first look, the ceremony, then going back to our hotel for cake cutting and champagne pics. The picture of the dress is what I’m wearing (I’m having the long train cut off though). My fiancé has no idea what to wear!! He originally was going to rent a tux but now is seriously second guessing because he feels it’s over the top to wear a tux for a beach ceremony and it ..read more

Hi guys! We just booked our elopement for October. We found an amazing event coordinator who will be essentially planning the whole thing for us. The one thing I wanted to do myself is my bouquet. I really want to do silk flowers for my bouquet do I can keep them forever, exactly how they looked on our wedding day. But I am struggling to find good suggestions for more realistic looking flowers. I want something that looks real and feels close enough to pass. Anyone have good suggestions? submitted by /u/twentyafterfour20 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
