I’m Leah, the face behind Ellerow; a 27 year old daydreamer and over-thinker based in Toronto. As much as I love my Victorian literature and Ancient art, this blog is dedicated to my love for all things beauty related, as well as lifestyle, fashion and anything and everything in-between

Do you think I’ll be able to finish another two dozen products before the end of this year? Because that’s the goal. I’d love to finish three dozen, as that would mean I used up over 100 products throughout 2019, but that might be pushing it a bit. Either way, I’m really proud of myself for buying less in terms of beauty products, and instead working through what I already have—it feels great! Here’s what I’ve recently used up:
Haircare
Avalon Organics Clarifying Lemon Shampoo*
Pros: Removes dulling product buildup, brings out my natural highlights, leaves hair feeling clean, smel ..read more

If you’re a friend, family member or a longtime reader of my blog, then you’re probably aware of my love for Live Clean. I’ve actually been using their products long before I started my blog, and I’m pretty sure I’ve tried almost everything they’ve ever released, which is why I wanted to curate a post talking all about my favourite Live Clean products.
Founded in 2007, Live Clean has always had the consumer and planet in mind. Their eco-conscious range of products has grown and expanded so much since then, but their philosophy of clean beauty has always stayed the same. All of their pro ..read more

As a devout horror movie fan, I’ve decided to take on the challenge this year of watching 31 horror movies throughout the month of October. My mindset for this is basically, “I already watch a ton of horrors every October, so what’s a few more?” As I’ve been compiling my list of everything I want to watch this month, I thought I’d share a variety of horror movies you may not have seen yet on Netflix. So, get cozy (or as cozy as you can be watching a scary movie), and check out this list to get your horror movie marathon rolling:
Zombie
Train to Busan

The seasons might be changing, but there’s one thing that will always stay constant—good ol’ Product Empties posts. These posts are so satisfying to put together because as soon as I hit publish it means I can toss said empties and start fresh again. There’s probably some sort of metaphor I could make out of that, but I can’t be bothered to try and string one together, so just use your imagination. Anyways, here’s another dozen empties:
Haircare
COLAB Active Dry Shampoo +*
Pros: No white residue, absorbs excess oil and refreshes my hair in-between washes, don’t get as much product ..read more

After going out west in April, I was seriously missing the mountains. Jason had one more vacation week left and suggested we do a trip to the Adirondacks, which immediately peaked my interest. Another road trip to the mountains sounded absolutely perfect.
I’ve been to Lake Placid a couple of times as a kid, so I was ecstatic to explore more of it, and I was also excited for Jason to see it all for the first time. So, if you’re interested in seeing everything we got up to, where we stayed, as well as some travel tips—carry on reading!

As we savour the last few days of August and get ready to transition into September, I wanted to put together this short and sweet post of my September to-do list. September has always felt like a fresh start for me; with back-to-school, my birthday and the change in seasons, I always find I’m able to draw new inspiration and motivation. I also think it’s the perfect time to revisit and reflect on those intentions we set at the beginning of the year. Here’s everything I’m hoping to check off my list for this month:
Get Back into the Gym
After almost nine years, my free gym membership ..read more

Yup, you read that right! Another round of product empties. I’m not gonna sit and ramble on or anything, as these posts really need no introduction now. Here’s another dozen products I’ve finished up over the last month:
Haircare
Herbal Essences Daily Detox Volume Dry Shampoo
Pros: Love the fresh, invigorating scent of this, the citrus and mint feels stimulating, super inexpensive, no white residue, absorbs excess oil, free of parabens and colourants, don’t get as much product build up with this as I do with other dry shampoos
Cons: Doesn’t give my hair much volume like it sugg ..read more

Was I the only one that didn’t know Plastic Free July was a thing? I’ve been reading up on this global movement, and I really love their initiative to educate and inspire people to make small changes that work with their everyday lives. So, whilst I only heard them a couple weeks ago, this blog post has actually been lurking in the back of my mind for a couple of months now, so I figured I’d get my butt in gear and end July with this post. Though I strongly believe that we can all make more conscious choices, it’s also important to remember that we as consumers are not to blame for the pla ..read more

Things have been busy and exciting on my end, but I’m trying not to forget about my blog in the process—especially when I have more product empties to share! I have so many products I’m nearing the end of, which honestly excites me, as I constantly mention on here how I am trying to downsize my collection. Here’s what I’ve finished over the last couple of months:
Haircare
Dove Refresh + Care Unscented Dry Shampoo
Pros: Fragrance-free, doesn’t irritate my scalp from the product buildup like most scented dry shampoos do, inexpensive, no white residue, absorbs excess oil
Cons: Doe ..read more
