This is a really tough situation and I can relate. I have a child (2.5 years) and I have two cats (14 and 5 years old). I constantly monitor myself to make sure I don’t become abusive to them. Sadly, that hasn’t always been the case with my cat that I’ve had for 14 years (I’m 28 now, I was 14 when I got her). I’ve done some awful things to her. I’ve hit her before. I’ve screamed at her. I’ve thrown her. I’m disgusted thinking about what I did when I was a teenager. I can’t take it back and that HURTS just thinking about what an awful person I used to be.
