OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE FROM WAKO 20th July 2021 IOC Session accepted WAKO application for Full Recognition Today 20th July, The IOC session in Tokyo, Japan, accepted the sport of Kickboxing with full recognition under the auspices of the World Governing Body, WAKO (World Association of Kickboxing Organizations) at the duly convened IOC session. Kickboxing Ireland recently caught up with Damian ‘The Kid’ Darker during his preparations for his upcoming WAKO-PRO K1 INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE fight which will be held in Dubai under the K1 Combat promotion banner on the 20th November 2020. This is the biggest challenge to date for the 28 year old Irish multi K1 champion. The first official KBI affiliated tournament of the new season, the New Year’s Open is promising to be one of the biggest national tournament to date. The NYO, hosted by the Tallaght Martial Arts association is growing yearly.
