Our intake team was approached by a rural animal shelter to rescue three puppies that had been dumped. The two girls and boy (retriever mixes) had terrible- YET recoverable mange. The shelter employee commented that this threesome were either leaving the shelter that day with a rescuing group or in “bag”. Take Me Home Pet Rescue, without hesitation, took these pups into our program. Initially, all three settled into one foster home. They visited our vet to address their mange issue and a cough that each had developed. Wynken and Nod progressed nicely. Poor little Blynken (the smallest of the t ..read more

This is Victoria, named after her rescuer

Victoria was found at a construction site severely injured. The tiny kitten was picked up in a box; she was shaking from fright, had a bloody nose, scrapes above her eye and an injury to her tail.  She was dehydrated and very hungry. She went to a loving TMHPR foster home where her wounds were cleaned and she was given food and water with Pedialyte. With lots of love, soothing words, and tender touches she finally had a restful sleep (probably her first that was stress free). Her injuries are still healing, but she is very chatty, and loves being held. Her life has changed because o ..read more

Why I Love to Foster
Take Me Home Pet Rescue | Richardson, TX

We recently spoke with one of our fosters, Trish Clark, about her experience with fostering. Here’s what she had to say… Why I foster? I am often asked how I can foster and give my foster dog away after a few weeks or longer to an adopter.  I have learned,  you have to have the right mindset. If you ask any person in rescue, fostering is truly one of the most, if not THE most important task you can do for rescue. You get to see the animal’s true personalities living in a loving home. Some of these dogs have known only miss treatment, neglect, starvation and abuse.  I’ve lo ..read more

What do you like to do for fun? Answer: I like to sit next to foster human while she works at her desk. I look out the window and chatter at the birds. I love falling asleep on her lap while watching TV. How would you describe yourself? A: My personality is affectionate with a teeny bit of wariness. I would love to live somewhere that I didn’t have to share my human. I’ve shared long enough now. What do you love most about your foster human? A: I have seasonal allergies and sometimes might need help with pills to get me over an especially itchy spell – I hope I find a new home with humans li ..read more

As Easter celebrations are in full swing across the nation, Collin County Animal Services is called to trap a mother cat and her newborn kittens. The newly named Queen Agape was homeless with eight tiny babies to feed, taken from an area she knew, and put into a cage. Luckily, CCAS reached out to Take Me Home Pet Rescue who found a foster for the family; Agape now has a whole room for her litter with a clean comfortable bed, fresh water, and all of the food she wants.  Today the kittens are about three weeks old and begin to explore their home – Queen Agape trusts her foster and is accli ..read more

My name is Jocelyn and I am a Girl Scout Ambassador. I have spent the majority of my childhood in Girl Scouts. In fact, some of my most memorable childhood memories are from Girl Scout events like ice cream socials, campouts, and team building activities. Even as a young girl I knew I would end up completing the Girl Scout Gold Award, but it wasn’t until this year that I decided what I would do. You might ask yourself, “What is the Girl Scout Gold Award?” The Girl Scout Gold Award represents the highest achievement in Girl Scouts, requiring over 80 hours of service. This award recognizes gi ..read more
