Michigan’s basketball roster showcases a group with nine new faces among 12 scholarship roster spots. As Dusty May rapidly constructed the group from scratch this spring, he pulled together a group that features fifth-year veterans and freshmen recruits, SEC stowaways, and Big Ten mainstays. It was the result of the glorious hodge podge that only the new-era transfer portal can bring. And even still, sophomore forward Sam Walters has yet to feel like a stranger in his own new home. Despite being one of many in the Wolverines program to make an entirely new venture out to Ann Arbor, Walters al ..read more

UM Hoops.com
by John Tondora

The first question Danny Wolf asked was about Vlad Goldin. Entering the transfer portal with a ‘Do Not Contact’ tag, Wolf had already predetermined a select number of schools that combined his academics with high-major basketball. And once Michigan coach Dusty May reached out to the Yale protégé, Wolf was ready to see the vision. He just needed to know who else was in it. “The one thing that really stood out was the ability to play the four and the five because the first question I asked (May) was, ‘Is Vlad Goldin gonna come with you?’ And he was pretty certain he was,” Wolf said Tuesday on t ..read more

UM Hoops.com
by John Tondora

It might be hard to mistake Michigan for a southern tropical paradise — especially during a wintry basketball season. Tre Donaldson is trying to change that, though. “I’m Tre — I’m bringing the South to Michigan.” The junior guard is hardly alone in his journey. After a departure en masse from Florida Atlantic University courtesy of Dusty May’s move north to the Wolverines, a litany of the South’s finest basketball minds have found their way to Ann Arbor. Donaldson though, sees his role just a bit clearer. “A swagger,” Donaldson said Tuesday on the Defend the Block Podcast. “It’s just a diffe ..read more

by John Tondora

As Michigan coach Dusty May landed the crown jewel of his incoming transfer class in graduate center Vlad Goldin on April 29, the Wolverines secured their first, and only, player from May’s illustrious Final Four trip two seasons ago. Perhaps the most impactful Owl on the floor during May’s two March Madness runs, Vlad’s 25 minutes played per game during the 2023-2024 season — one of the highest for any player under May in his coaching career — illustrated the immense importance of Goldin to May’s program. Notching an average of 15.7 points on 67% shooting this past year, it’s hard to oversta ..read more
