If you read this blog on a daily basis, you already know that I know nothing about hockey or cover that sport in any way.  What I do know is Michigan scored 11 goals on Friday and one more goal in overtime on Sunday afternoon to get to the Frozen 4 in Tampa.  Congratulations! Hockey School? ? Michigan Football's Summer Trip is set and they are heading out East to check out NYC, Washington DC, Gettysburg, PA, etc.   Please raise your hand if you did an Ann Arbor Junior High (pick one) bus trip to Washington DC?  That was the longest bus ride of my life.  Gisel ..read more

Michigan Friday: Jetting Out of Ann Arbor

When I was a kid, I always wondered why we had to go to Detroit Metro to catch a plane rather than the very convenient Ann Arbor Airport.  My dad then explained to me that Ann Arbor Airport was too small for jets to fly in and out of.  I thought surely, they could do it if they really wanted to.   On Thursday night, that happened and Jett Howard flew out of Ann Arbor after only 1 season.  I'm a bit torn on this decision.  On one hand, his family doesn't need the money, Juwan made over $150M in his NBA career.  He also is a little rough around the edges in sho ..read more

Michigan Thursday: The Ohio Hits Just Keep Playing

Michigan's coaches have made an extra effort to recruit the State of Ohio the last couple of years.  It's known as one of the best high school football talent states in the country (with Florida, Texas, Georgia, and California).  So, it's been encouraging for the last two days that 2 recruits from Ohio have become Wolverines.   The latest commitment for the 2024 class is 3-star Monster OT Ben Roebuck from Lakewood, OH who is currently 6'7 and 315 pounds as a high school junior.  My goodness that is a mountain of a young man! Potential Nickname: Sears? (Probably a too ..read more

Wolverine Wednesday: Mike Hart with a Big Win

Mike Hart is one of my favorite players in Michigan history.  I actually ran into my favorite two weeks ago as my wife and I were in Winter Park, FL outside of Orlando and walked by the GOAT Charles Woodson and his wife walking in Winter Park's downtown shopping district.   This post isn't about me being a Michigan fan boy, it's about Mike Hart recruiting and turning the run game in Ann Arbor into the runaway train that Harbaugh wants.  Mike has the best 2 running backs in the nation this year and it's probably not close, but struggled on the 2023 recruiting trail.  M ..read more

Michigan Monday: Continues to Add to the 2023 Class!

Today is March 20th and well past the February final signing day for the 2023 class.  Everyone pretty much assumed the 2023 class was done and the coaches had moved on to recruiting 2024 and 2025 classes.  Until Sunday, when 2023 4-star Safety/Athlete Brandyn Hillman committed and signed with Michigan.  How is this possible? Brandyn signed with Notre Dame and asked to be let out of his commitment and ND granted it last week.  Michigan, OSU, and USC were in hot pursuit of this talented DB and the Wolverines closed on him this weekend.  Brandyn is listed as an athlete ..read more

Michigan Friday: Pro Day

Today is Michigan's Pro Day for NFL Scouts.  Let's hope Mazi puts up some impressive stats and sneaks into the first round.  DJ Turner helped himself with his blazing 40 and now might be a 2nd rounder.   Good Luck to everyone participating.  If you were wondering if JJ wanted Kirk Campbell as his QB coach? “I absolutely love Kirk. Not just the fact that he's a wizard in the pass game and with developing QBs — because he's a great friend, a great brother.” That's all I needed to hear. He is also making a positive impact in QB recruiting already. If you're wonderin ..read more

Michigan Thursday: BJ Mack Attack?

As the NCAA tips off today and Michigan still playing in Nashville this weekend in the NIT, the Michigan coaches have an eye on next season and are meeting with a potential transfer BJ Mack today.  It will be a Zoom meeting but the coaches are serious about bringing in this big man.  Who is BJ Mack? He is a 6'8 244-pound power forward from Wofford.  He is a senior who has played 104 games over 4 years.  Last season, Mack averaged 16.6 points, 5.6 boards, and shot 49% from the field.  I don't know much about the young man but he seems to be one of the top transfer po ..read more

Wolverine Wednesday: The Longest Week of My Life was Watching Michigan Play Toledo

Not exactly the famous Mark Twain quote, but close.  The NIT is an interesting dilemma for a team like Michigan.  If you win games, nobody really cares, but if you lose it's a disaster.   The Wolverines have a number of young players that need more floor experience, so from that perspective it's a good thing they continue to play games.  The issue is this is not a European Trip or a pre-season game and these games count.  Michigan started a number of bench players and got outplayed by the Rockets in the first half.  The 2nd half the Wolverines started quickl ..read more

Michigan Monday: I Hate to NIT Pick

As expected, our Michigan Wolverines Men's Basketball team did not make the NCAA Tournament and received a #2 Seed in the NIT.   The Wolverines will host Toledo on Tuesday night (at least they don't have to drive too far).   I'm torn between doing a North Carolina (who turned down a bid) to accepting a bid and playing more basketball.  If players are going to stick with the program, then it's a good move to play.  If they are going to bail for the draft or transfer portal then it's just more basketball.  Congrats to the Michigan Wolverines Women's program th ..read more

As Michigan fans we love to bounce back and forth from being a football school or a basketball school.  It's very convenient for us, when one program is playing better than the other.  As Michigan Football has won back-to-back Big Ten Championships, we have found Juwan's program heading in the other direction.  When Jimmy's team was playing terribly, we were clearly a Basketball School.  That point was driven home Thursday afternoon in the Big Ten Tournament when Michigan got completely out played by Rutgers.  When you get out played by Rutgers in anything, you're havi ..read more
