Early Saturday morning as I was getting off of work (hospitality industry) one of my security guards said he saw a small cat dragging its back legs across the parking lot. We went and found her, terrified and in pain, took her to the emergency vet and got her warm + fluids. (Her temp was 96.1° when we brought her in.) She doesn’t have fleas, or flea dirt, is skinny but not skin & bones. We were sent home with pain meds to keep her comfortable until her vet appointment today for X-rays. Her pelvis is shattered- definitely hit by a car. The vet is recommending euthanasia as surgery is 100 ..read more

This broke my heart.
Gertie UPDATE ?
This sweet angel is home from the hospital and quietly recovering.
We have had very little funding support for this ol' girl and she is one who will be with us indefinitely with ongoing care and expenses - she could really use your help!

Today I found a field mouse who seemed in need of help. However, what I tried to do didn't help, and I fear might actually have killed him. I'm interested in tips for if I find myself in a similar situation again.
I live in Southern Germany. I found a field mouse out on the pavement at about 10:30 am, with sunshine beating down on him. This was on a busy main road. He was still and panting. A Google search told me he was probably overheated, which made sense. I picked him up by the scruff of his neck and placed him in the hedgerow. I then went to the nearest store to find something for him to ..read more

I live in Alaska and in our neighborhood are many generations of rabbits that look domestic, but are feral. Someone long ago must have let loose their pets who have interbred with the wild rabbits. These rabbits have been a part of the local landscape since we've been here (ten years) and seem to do fine in all seasons.
A breeding pair of these rabbits have been living on our land for two years. This morning we found the mama dead from a predator attack. Tonight, we were down by the chicken coop, and saw babies in a known rabbit warren nearby.
They have complete fur and eyes are open. They ar ..read more

I reside in an apartment complex in Kansas City, Missouri, USA, and since the arrival of new tenants who live directly on the otherside of my bedroom wall, my experience has been fraught with challenges. The situation involves a young woman, the official tenant, who frequently engages in disturbing physical altercations with her boyfriend. I have been witness to alarming incidents, including her seeking refuge at my door, visibly distressed, and alleging abuse from her boyfriend. On multiple occasions, I, too, have felt compelled to involve the authorities due to the intensity of their disput ..read more
