Hi Guys (22F) I’ve been drinking about a 1/2 bottle (375ml) of rum every second night and sometimes for 2 days in a row. I’m thinking of quitting now because it’s catching up to me again and wondering what’s the likelihood of having bad withdrawls as I have usually taken a day break between nightly drinking. I had bad withdrawls before and was on Librium and then a few months went by and I thought I could reintroduce it to my life but I know it’s a matter of time before it’s every day again. Do you think it’s safe for me to cold turkey it? I can’t go to my doctor cause he’ll send me to a trea ..read more

Hey y’all, I’m a 29 year old male living by myself. I have struggled with abusing alcohol for around 2 years now and am dead set on being sober. Alcohol and substances have played a big part in my life in a very negative way. Lately drinking has become a daily occurrence where before it happened in spurts of binge drinking. Last year I quit weed which was incredibly difficult for me as I’d been smoking for about 10 years, but I have been sober from weed for over 7 months now! I have no illusions with myself that substances, especially alcohol, impede my life and health in many ways. I feel in ..read more

I feel so scared because no drug has had a had a hold on me before. I need help. submitted by /u/TheJoliestEgg [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Today I am wicked depressed. I needed a meeting so I called another sober friend. He and I talked for about 40 minutes and took my mind off drinking. It hasn't been hard to be sober but today was different. I thought to myself I could have just one… Just like old times… But what would that accomplish? How would that temporary satisfaction lead me to place of euphoria as it did in the past? Was it worth it? etc. etc. Today, I am proud of myself for not having a drink. submitted by /u/andthedrinksareonme [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I decided today I am going to quit drinking any alcohol in a bar setting. I don’t drink everyday, and to be honest I am not aiming to give up alcohol completely. I am fine having a drink at dinner or by the pool, but every time I go to a bar it’s a mess. I tell myself I will just have one or two drinks but then I always find a reason, like oh it’s happy hour so I should get a few doubles before that is over and then before I know it I’m wasted. I was a mess last night and can’t remember multiple hours, not sure how I drove to my friends place and terrified at the fact that I did. I had the wo ..read more
