A series of budget town hall meetings are scheduled throughout the month of August as Dallas City Manager T.C. Broadnax presents the proposed Fiscal Year 2021-22 budget. These meetings are designed for Dallas residents to weigh in on how their tax dollars are spent and provide valuable guidance for the City Manager and City Council.

As the Tokyo Olympics come to a close, the competition is heating up for the annual Dallas Golden Games. This fun, Olympic-style competition allows Dallas adults 50 and over to engage in fitness and recreational activities. This year’s Golden Games will start on Sept. 18 and last until Sept. 25.
Participants can choose from an array of sports and activities, including:
Basketball
Cycling
Golf
Pickleball
Swimming
Table tennis
Tennis
Track and Field
Registration is open from Aug. 2 and closes on Sept. 2. To compete, participants pay a $25 registration fee plus an additional $3.00 per event.

Dallas City Manager T.C. Broadnax announced the appointment of William G. Mundinger, II to serve as Executive in Residence for the Department of Sustainable Development and Construction (SDC).
Mr. Mundinger will support SDC’s reorganization and transformation. Realigning SDC and the City’s building and permitting process is critical to the success of the City of Dallas’ newly adopted Economic Development Policy.

Thanks to Code Compliance Services (CCS) and the help of the Dallas community, close to 400k pounds of bulk trash has been cleaned up since October 2020. The Community Clean weekend events were designed to create a collaboration between residents and CCS.
Since Community Clean events were implemented, 1,708 residents have participated in cleanup events across multiple districts in the city.
Together with the help of the community, CCS has collected:
392,570 pounds of bulk trash
25,787 pounds of documents
65,253 pounds of hazardous waste
2,759 tires

The Dallas Police Department Mounted Unit is hosting an inaugural community trail ride and Back to School Bash to not only celebrate the start of a new school year, but to provide the public with an opportunity to learn a little more about the Dallas Police Department’s Mounted Unit.
