I am a 23 year old marketing manager, and my fiance is a 23 year old barista. We have a cat, so whatever country we choose has to allow cats. We love warm weather and currently live in Idaho but I loved the weather in Florida when I lived there. We prefer a more progressive country, but it seems like progressive and warm weather don’t go together. We have about $20,000 saved up together, and have about $22,000 in vehicles paid off. Germany was a close consideration but I’d rather not move to somewhere even colder than where I currently live. Australia seems nice but I’ve never been. Our lease ..read more

Returning to the US after 5 years
Hi guys. I’m a US citizen that moved to Italy in 2019, and stayed there throughout covid playing on different semi pro soccer teams and working different jobs & living nicely while waiting on my Italian papers. I got my Italian citizenship thanks to my father in 2022, and now in 2024 I am planning on visiting the US for 10 days in July. Should I show the customs officer my Italian ID card to prove I wasn’t there illegally? How would I respond to them possibly saying “you’ve been gone awhile huh” will this draw extra scrutiny? I just wanna visit my friends ..read more

Just venting and looking for advice … I am English and have an Argentinian girlfriend in which we’ll be making the move to Buenos Aires in two years. The only problem is I am struggling to think of what to do for work or what good opportunities are available in Buenos Aires for a Brit with limited Spanish (will be putting alot of time into learning the language over the next couple of years).
We’ll be going in the summer of 2026 and I’ll have around £100,000 to create something of my own, I’m just struggling to find the field or direction I want to go in. I’ve been a primary teacher for eight ..read more

I’m an American with a couple friends in Norway and I’m thinking about moving. I’m visiting this winter to enjoy some winter sports and see the people I’ve known online for a big part of my life. Maybe I’ve romanticized it in my head but it sounds wonderful! Some developments are yet to happen but the situations I’m most likely to come across is A) going on vacation and just coming home and accepting that I’m American B) see if I can’t get work with one of my buddies in an industry I know and get a visa or C) get into a trade school there and get a school visa.
I dunno how my family will reac ..read more

I moved to Tangier, Morocco in November to be with my husband. In short it’s been a rolling failure. We depleted my savings and he lost his very good job unexpectedly. I am completely broke losing my apartment at the end of mayh. My question is if a repatriation loan on the basis of being destitute is even possible I’ve been told it’s near impossible to get. But I don’t have any other options no family can afford to float me money to get back home.

I have a law degree, for which I got a full ride. I hated law school and lateraled into health policy work with the government immediately afterward, which is what I do now. I really enjoy my job, but my one true love is travel, and I would love to spend as much time abroad as humanly possible. My Peace Corps Response application was rejected due to my PTSD diagnosis (although it's a few years old at this point), and have been applying with USAID contractors but know that landing one can be extremely challenging.
I'm wondering if it would be absolutely bonkers to get a one-year masters degree ..read more

We are US citizens looking at Finland, Denmark, Sweden, or possibly Germany. We are not yet married but are a same-sex couple.
We are both college educated (Bachelor’s degree and JD) but would be willing to pursue further education if necessary. My fiancée is bilingual and we both have resources to learn another language.
Our biggest goal at the moment is debt elimination from the US, but it’s hard with cost of living and school loans.
She has lived abroad with family before and has traveled all over the world. I’ve never traveled out of the US.
What are some things for us to consider, given ..read more

Questions for anyone that moved to South America.
Which country did you decide on and why? Was the language hard to learn and tips for learning a new language? What do you do for work there? I’m a millwright in the mining industry would work in my field be a possibly? Are any of them firearms friendly?? (Not a big deal but really normal where I’m from and curious if it’s also a thing there?) Interested in buying land will that make things harder or easier? Is it possible to bring my pets? what needs to be done for that?
