Any way this could just be pinned to the top? The information has great visuals and useful information about the woods pictured. And could help limit the what kind of wood is this floor? posts. submitted by /u/Crafty-Shape2743 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Which floor sander to use?

I’ve installed 8”white oak and am ready to sand. Which model of floor sander should I rent? My local hardware store has the EZ-sand orbital sander but I’m wondering if I should check out Home Depot. I have no experience with floor sanding so bonus points for ease of use. submitted by /u/tubluu [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Sealing a Spot-product help
Reddit - Hard Wood Flooring

We had a planter leak and leave a ring with some black spots. We sanded it down and now need to seal it again. We just did our floors a year ago. The floor guy wants to come do it himself, and so he won’t tell us the product he used. We’d rather do the spot ourselves, unless that’s a very bad idea(?). Could you help me know what to get for this? Floor is oak. I know it was water based and no stain. Thanks! submitted by /u/wayfarersway [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Can this old floor be sanded and restored?

In the process of purchasing this old home, and the floors have some wear and tear. Wanting to know if we can just sand these, and get them in good condition again or does this need to be ripped up. Uncertain what this stain is, water damage? Paint? Hopefully not a crime scene :0. https://preview.redd.it/0kqvsazal1vc1.png?width=950&format=png&auto=webp&s=7dd673b6aa4cae976810ddda5f59d851da8ab492 submitted by /u/homegrownhooligans [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Would rubbing in mineral spirits on penetrated stain help lighten it up?

Trying to clean up a bad transition (entirely my fault) between two floors by restaining individual boards. After sanding, I am not entirely happy with the results. Would rubbing mineral spirits on the boards in the lower area of the picture do anything to lighten the deeper penetrated stain areas or would I just be inviting new problems when trying to re-stain with water based penetrating stain when I am done? https://preview.redd.it/c8lr9zoky0vc1.png?width=782&format=png&auto=webp&s=4bd45fcf098601d59a98426201232425b927d928 submitted by /u/LuapYllier [visit reddit] [commen ..read more

Planning on buying this for my entire house. Thoughts/comments on this would be appreciated. I have very little idea on how to determine the quality. https://www.hursthardwoods.com/7-1-2-x-1-2-european-french-oak-natural/engfonat1-2/ https://www.hursthardwoods.com/10-1-4-x-5-8-european-french-oak-sierra/engfosa/ Thanks. submitted by /u/Clear-Sea-1914 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I wish this was a joke!!!!! But our 2 year old got ahold of a sharpie on our brand new floors that my husband just installed and finished literally days ago. Please someone tell us how to fix this lol I think we’re all about to lose it ? we tried tooth paste and alcohol and it worked somewhat but the finish is coming up. We think we can resand and restain but I’m worried it might make this part of the floors stand out from the rest?? Any advice welcome please be kind! Our 2 year old is a menace but we love her anyway lol ? submitted by /u/jfjfbfjskejdn [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Concerned with pets and engineered hardwood.

What was your experience with pets and hardwood? I’m wanting to put in some engineered hardwood, either white or red oak, with a naked look, something quiet light. But just started thinking about pets. We wanted to get a golden retriever in the future but I’m scared about the potential damage. The wear layer is quiet thick, so refinishing in the future is a possibility. Is it worth it to do hardwood? submitted by /u/hockeyboy87 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
