(created by Bill Chalker from George Pedley's sketch of the UFO
and a photo of the "flying saucer nest")
(1966 - George Pedley points at the direction he saw the UFO - Pennisi archive)
What played out at Horseshoe Lagoon in northern Queensland Australia on the sugar cane farming property of Albert Pennisi on the morning of January 19 1966 was an extraordinarily potent testament to the case for a UFO reality. The term “saucer nest” entered “UFO lore” and left its indelible mark in the history of the UFO mystery. The famous Tully “UFO nest” affair of 1966 is one of the ..read more

It is wonderful to see that the first issue has appeared.
I sent the following message to editor-in-chief Dr. Michael C. Cifone:
Congratulations Mike and to all the fine people who brought the first issue of Limina into being. An outstanding achievement. Thanks for your support in trying to get my humble efforts to the finish line, but too many issues & more significantly, personal matters prevented this. I sincerely hope that it will make it into a future issue.
You and all the fine people behind this endeavour are making history.
Best wishes for the future and ..read more

Anyone who has an interest in UFOs, (or their current iteration UAP) should anchor themselves in serious historical scholarship. I unashamedly highly recommend the massive book of excellent historical UFO/UAP scholarship, “UFOs and Government – A Historical Inquiry” (Anomalist Books, 2012) by “the UFO History Group”. While it is heavily focused on the US experience, with principle authors Michael Swords and Robert Powell, ably supported by Barry Greenwood, Richard Thieme and Jan Aldrich, and with heavy historical UFO/UAP scholarship on other parts of the planet from Clas Svahn (Swe ..read more

An important piece of confirmatory evidence has been found for the 1868 "UFO vision" of Frederick William Birmingham in Parramatta.
A long letter he wrote in 1875 describing his efforts of applying his engineering skills to his "vision" to create a viable machine to achieve "navigation through the air", with "the machine is of the ark shape", with a "pilot house", feature significant elements of his 1868 "vision."
The letter was located via Trove in the 22 May 1875 issue of The Albury Banner and Wadonga Express" by archivist Michael Organ and is included in a timeline he prepared ..read more

Celebrating their 50th anniversary of outstanding UFO research, investigation and commentary on the UFO controversy, the Center for UFO Studies (CUFOS) have updated the CUFOS website
I recommend the CUFOS site to new players trying to get a focus on the UFO subject while tackling its current iteration of UAP (with its militarised and scientifically "safe" subsets) - unidentified aerial phenomena, but also to jaded long time players, as it provides some striking data, reference material and commentary on UFOs/UAP worthy of your attention. In the interests of transparency I am liste ..read more

Here on the steps of a wonderful "magnificent obsession" is this group of people, many of whom have their own "magnificent obsession" with the UFO (UAP) subject. The steps are the north western steps of the Mitchell Library in Sydney, located just to the right of the red arrow ("Mitchell Building entrance") on the State Library of NSW map. The date: Saturday 28 October 2023. In 2007 Brian Fletcher provide an excellent account of the story of the Mitchell Library, which was entitled "Magnificent Obsession."
The group assembled on the Mitchell steps, had been there with a full hou ..read more

October 1973 was an extraordinary time on the world stage – the Yom Kippur war, US President Nixon fighting the spectre of Watergate & threatening to use nuclear weapons if Russia intervened in the middle East war, and the energy crisis. (In fact it is extraordinary and worrying to see similar events and threats been played out 50 years later!) And the United States was deep into the biggest UFO wave since the 1960s. Things were perhaps a little quieter in Australia, but some very strange things were afoot, some even bleeding into dangerous super power plays tha ..read more

The contemporary and widespread public flirtation with "flying saucers" in Australia was slow to begin with. Intermittent reports occurred, but media prominence really only got under way in 1950 with reports from Geelong and Avoca, Victoria, during June and July. The earliest still extant sighting report in the Directorate of Air Force Intelligence (DAFI) files was a nocturnal light account at Bass Point, NSW, on July 16, 1950. The growing number of reports that involved official agencies and highly regarded sources served to heightened official interest, initially from two quarters ..read more

Here is an interview I did with Jamie (Jay Katz) & Aspasia of Down South Anomalies on Thursday 29 June, 2023, on "The Ultimate Secret", UFO crash retrieval stories in Australia, the Nullarbor UFO crash story of the late 1970s, and nuclear scientist and DSTI/JIO head of nuclear science, Harry Turner on his extraordinary UFO interest over decades, indeed since 1948. On the same day I had picked up on loan from a family connection with Harry Turner an archive box consisting of a remarkable slide collection of Harry's covering many decades, some marked with the address O.H.
