There's always one in the shop that seemed to be close to finishing their degree their entire career, but never did So who is that one airmen you encountered Knew a chief in the guard while he did have 4 associates through CCAF he never finished a bachelors and had like 300 credit hours or something crazy (many of those quarter hrs vs semester) His only reason was if he graduated then he couldn't use TA anymore just to take classes knew another guy who was always a semester away from graduating - never did - he retired and still never finished submitted by /u/DeezSaltyNuts69 [visit reddit ..read more

I am considering applying for SOS insructor next summer. I wouldn't mind living in Alabama. It gets me off the deployment cycle for a couple years And seems like a good opportunity to live that M-F and holidays life. I like teaching so I think I might enjoy the work as well Does anyone have experience as an SOS instructor? Is it laid back? Career killer? Also, I'd prefer ROTC instructor, but would putting SOS instructor on my list, regardless of how far down have AFPC make me an easy choice and I guarantee my fate even having it on the list? I'll pin on Major probably my first month there wit ..read more

A local news station talked to the base about the infestation and why they suddenly closed the DFAC. They shared photos and videos of the mice in the kitchen and the traps. https://www.ktalnews.com/military/barksdale-air-force-base-closes-dining-facility-amid-rodent-infestation/ submitted by /u/Hime-Karisuta [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Awards and Strats

A "Knife Fight" is when supervisors get together, read award packages (or decide stratifications), shit all over them, and decide who should be the winner. A "Murder Board" is when leadership gets in a room, reads the "winning package", shits all over it, and then pushes it to the next level. As you can see, its a real shitty, messy situation. I'm a new Flight Commander and I'm going to my first Knife Fight, where we offer out input for squadron strats, and will decide quarterly award winners. Thank heaven I had a solid mentor who prepared me. "Write awards for every quarter. Even if you don ..read more
