Hi all, I’m a 25F paramedic from NY. A few days ago, out of nowhere, my heart rate suddenly dropped into to the high 20’s and my blood pressure tanked within probably less than a minute. I managed to call my boyfriend and he ran inside, threw me on the monitor, and called 911. Right before going down I felt a crushing weight on my chest, I couldn’t breathe, and I was 100% sure I was going to die. I cannot express the panicked feeling, but the same thing I’ve seen in other patients, I felt for myself. I was gasping for air, felt crushed, and was terrified when I watched my blood pressure, rate ..read more

I personally am tired of these private companies fucking us, and the unions are trash too until it’s election time.
What have you guys done personally to transition out and get paid more that is still EMS related.

I’m a medic, and as I was driving off my volunteer shift, I was crossing into a neighboring district and I saw a crash. I pulled over to render aid and noticed a man visibly dead in the drivers seat, and a woman who was badly injured in the passenger seat. Police arrived 30 seconds after me. And the volunteer service from the neighboring town about a minute after them. Even tho I figured it was futile, I worked the traumatic arrest with the volunteers and ignored the patient in the passenger seat. After the medics came, they declared him dead immediately.
Anyways, I was feeling pretty good ab ..read more

Hi there. My son just passed his EMT exam and is looking for employment. I was wondering if any of you had advice on a gift for him (his birth day is Saturday) to be used in his work. Shears? A pocket knife or hand tool of some type? I'd like to get him something of good quality because as my dad used to say, "A man's only as good as his tools." Thanks in advance

The FBI is looking for Forensic Operations Specialists. This is a good opportunity for those who are ready to move on from 911 systems, but don’t want to completely change industries. Get more information and apply through the FBIJobs posting.

I am trying to find the best place to work as a medic in 2024, things have changed so much I have no gauge on where to go next. I enjoy traveling and am about to recert for my Medic in a few weeks and wanna get out of Bama. I'm originally from Ohio, have lived in DC, Syracuse NY, and Bama but crave a big change. Where are some of the more ideal places to live now post-covid age we live in?

To be an accredited Paramedics working in California counties you must either do a 5 or 10 call. They must be ALS contacts. Giving different medications. Even if you give multiple medications to one patient it only counts as one contact. My question is does an IV fluid challenge for low BP (under 90) count?
