Through Mara Moments I share my healing journey with my horse, Mara B, highlighting our daily interactions and promoting equine therapy. I share the silent solitude and beauty of nature on the trails and our experiences. I want to share Mara as a companion for others to promote emotional wellbeing. I love connecting with Mara B at the stable and on the trails as we ride and spend time together.

Mara B and I rode out on 12/31/19 as a symbolic conclusion to the year and decade. With Benjamin’s death in 2010, the 2010s were understandably my most difficult years and toughest decade. I am now a different person. Through my Mara Moments blog posts, I have shared some of my personal experiences that have brought me to this new place. The dawning of 2020 brings me to another season of transition, which includes refreshing and reframing my daily creative endeavors. So, I am going to “rest the reins” on my Mara Moments blog.

Mara and I had a wonderful ride with Carley and her horse Billy this afternoon. Perfect weather, a gorgeous sky and two great horses made for a good end of the week excursion.
We appreciate today’s photos from Carley!
Now it’s time for us all to take a holiday break, let’s please care for our own mental and emotional wellness and of those in our inner circle during this holiday season.
Wishing you and yours a peaceful holiday, Hanukkah, Christmas ..read more

Temperatures were mild for us today and Mara B and I had a good ride out.
The snow is getting deeper and felt crusty, Mara seemed to prefer ready made ‘trails’ to paving our own, however we mostly did blaze our own.
We observed many spots were deer have been foraging for food.
A horse was picked up to move to his new home while we were together and his buddies were whinnying to him much of our ride, they continued to whinny as I returned Mara B to her paddock…. we know it’s hard to say farewell.
We watched him go by when we were in the side field, then we came upon Bo playing on the other ..read more

With temperatures around ten degrees today, my Mara Moment was a simple, check in.
I loved seeing these darling tracks heading into her paddock. Not sure what critter that was.
Checking the paddock water tank and breaking up the ice is a part of my regular routine.
Mara had her snack and grooming session and even though I didn’t ride I must tell you there were hardy horsewomen at the barn today who were riding! Today I’ll share a good book and article about riding with you instead of trail photos.
I recently read this book and really enjoyed it, then I found the following article about the ..read more

Mara B and I hiked around the side field of completely untouched snow this afternoon and it was lovely. We had muted gray skies with brilliant white snow and near silence.
Here’s a deer trail we spotted that goes right over the fence line.
Returning to the barn we had an entertaining audience watching us. We liked observing the horses we walked past going in because many were very playful today.
Mara got a little exercise and I got my rosy cheeks for the day, it was a fine outing for us ..read more
