After living in isolation this past year, here arrives a film shot on location Oregon. It was filmed in several Oregon counties, including locations in Portland, Clackamas County, Marion County, Multnomah County and Washington County. I watched the film recently and it is filled with astonishing beauty, wrenching moments in relationships, brooding and humorous as well. As filmmaker Sabrina Doyle told me in our conversation, which you listen to below as well as see the trailer, “We are the sum of our failures”.  Starring Tony and Emmy nominee Pablo Schreiber (Halo, Den of Thieves, Orange ..read more

During the course of an astonishing 2020, as I reflect back, one of the biggest missing pieces was the live music so many of us have taken to. From chilling out on the odd evening, to joining in the enormous outdoor music festivals , to making new music discoveries. Here’s your chance to do just that! MEET STEVE DRIZOS   When I was first getting to to know Steve, and how his life’s work is playing out, I immediately thought of him as a “triple threat”. It reminds me of that very old nursery rhyme: Rub-a-dub-dub, Three men in a tub, And who do you think they be? The butcher, the baker, th ..read more

We sat down to talk about her many paths and the journey that brought Aisha to a place where she is able to help others in cleansing their body, mind, and spirit, and supporting cellular health on a daily basis, as she told me. Always good to be inspired by an artist’s story of how they find their true calling. Paves the way for others to follow, and just maybe create the same path, be it in music or any other calling. Especially fine in this age of good distraction, and some not so fine.   PORTLAND’S OWN TWO-MAN BAND   Rock duos are certainly out there. Think White Stripes, Black Keys, MGMT, Royal Blood. UTILITY was Royal Blood-inspired, as it turns out. Here’s a bit of background on Ryan and Adam: UTILITY is the new project from RFK Heise (Last Giant, System and Station) and Adam Draper (Down Gown, Swim ..read more

Josh Malm, a self-confessed complicated man, has had a whirlwind time of it. Some four years later, and a side bar move to Nashville and back to Portland, there’s a collection of new songs with Saints & Renegades. And a freshly released video that hits right to the heart of the matter.   REWOOD SON IN SERVICE OF THE ART It’s been a while since Josh and I sat down together to catch up on, well, everything! The last one-on-one centered around his moves to Nashville to take that deep nosedive into his music. “I just want to make art”   Our conversation ranged from the ridiculous to ..read more
