PgBouncer is probably the most popular connection pooler for Postgres. It is essentially a transparant middleware between clients and the server. However, it is not %100 transparent in practice. There are a few intricacies that should be taken into account when using PgBouncer. PostgreSQL 16 introduces quite a few improvements to the query planner and makes many SQL queries run faster than they did on previous versions of PostgreSQL. pg_cron is an open source PostgreSQL extension that provides a cron-based scheduler to periodically run SQL commands. Almost every managed PostgreSQL service supports pg_cron and it has become a standard tool for many PostgreSQL users.
