Exactly how old and how tall is anyone’s guess.
But historians and environmentalists in Sea Isle City are confident that it holds the distinction of being the tallest tree on the entire island and may be the oldest.

Cape May County Health Officer Kevin Thomas announced that during the months of June, July and August, the Department of Mosquito Control has detected 28 positive West Nile virus (WNV) and one Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) mosquito collections.
WNV is cycled mostly between birds and mosquitoes and EEE is cycled between birds and the black-tailed mosquito. The Department of Mosquito Control has mosquito traps throughout the county that specifically target those higher-risk species.

On Thursday, Bill and Muriel Elliott went to Trenton and watched as Acting Gov. Nicholas Scutari signed a bill into law that designates a new highway project as the “Ensign John R. Elliott Memorial Interchange.”
Bill Elliott said in an interview Friday that he hopes that the interchange between Route 42 and Route 295 will help save many lives.
“John was coming home and he took Route 40 with tragic consequences,” he said. “If there had been an interchange, it could have saved his life.”

Firefighters are battling a massive boat fire that sent a huge plume of black smoke and flames billowing above a Wildwood marina Thursday afternoon.
In videos posted on social media, onlookers watched the scene unfold at the Schooner Island Marina as firefighters doused a 41-foot boat, named “Luv-IT,” out of Philadelphia.
