The New Jersey Treasury Department is out with its 2023 Debt Report, showing the state’s bonded debt is at its lowest level in a decade. The annual report is available here. NJBPU receives $156M in Solar for All funding

As part of a $7 billion tranche through its Solar for All program, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency this week awarded the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) $156.1 million in grant funding. The program is part of the $27 billion Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, created under the Inflation Reduction Act. The funding award will be leveraged to develop long-lasting solar programs that enable low-income and disadvantaged communities to benefit from solar power. Express closing 7 NJ locations as part of Chapter 11 bankruptcy

After filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, fashion retailer Express Inc. is closing the majority of its stores, including seven in New Jersey. In an April 22 announcement, the Columbus, Ohio-based company said it plans to shutter more than 100 locations. In addition to Express stores, the retailer’s banners also include Express factory outlets, Bonobos and UpWest stores. NJPAC starts construction on $336M Newark redevelopment

Changes are underway at New Jersey Performing Arts Center, as construction starts on the outdoor space in front of the Newark theater complex. On Monday, NJPAC announced work began April 17 to redesign Chambers Plaza. The milestone marks the first efforts toward the venue’s $336 million redevelopment to overhaul the 12-acre campus. The 580,000-square-foot project aims to connect NJPAC with the larger Newark community as well as provide access to a new riverfront park. Officials gathered Monday morning at Newark Liberty International Airport to celebrate two prestigious honors recently bestowed upon the new Terminal A. As NJBIZ reported, Terminal A last month received a five-star rating by Skytrax, the preeminent aviation industry ratings firm.
