When you think of Swedish cities, the usual suspects might come to mind like Stockholm, Malmö, Gothenburg or Lund. If you haven’t followed my posts so far, when I mention Borås, you might think “what” or “where”? Well Borås is the city where I’m currently studying! Borås is well known for a rich textile history, housing the Swedish School of Textiles and the river Viskan which was central to Sweden’s textile’s trade. Are you curious about why the University of Borås might be your ideal study destination? Read Angelina’s blog here!  Textiles and fashion aside, there’s another eye catching ..read more

As I took a deep breath, the scent of after autumn rain filled my nostrils, fresh, earthy and autumnal. I looked up, the fall canopy – full of yellow, orange, red, brown was all over my head, vivid and dazzling. Under my feet, the leaves lied crunchy. Around me, the autumn mist was swirling like a gentle jazz dance of nature. In the heart of Söderåsen, I feel healed and connected. Söderåsen National Park – the gem of Skane If you ask me when is the best time to go trekking in Sweden, I would not hesitate and reply within seconds “Autumn it is!”. And this year, I have chosen to celebrate my sec ..read more

My dearest love. It feels too long since I last saw your beautiful face. In your absence I now realise, I took your radiance and warmth for granted. I steal a glimpse of you when the clouds part but they’ve become so greedy these days. Sadly I cannot spend every waking moment outside in your warm embrace – I must be in class or the library, hugging the radiator instead. I long for your stunning light more and more each day and cannot wait to spend my days with you again… Photo: Lusanda / Darkness over a snowy forest Okay, okay, okay, enough melodrama – you get the point. If you aren’t aware ..read more

Winter where we are now, where we will be for a while. In November grey clots the sky, swaddling you as you try to go about your daily business. You transition into wearing chunky knitwear but there’s a permanent, non-committal drizzle and fog in the air and it makes everything damp. When the snow comes, even if there’s no sun, it makes everything brighter. Take what joy you can from the fact your nostril hairs will freeze together. Do not chew minty gum and then go outside. Be glad that the snow makes everything so quiet, and can put on such a show. Trees in Kiruna / Photo credit: Emma Upp ..read more

If you know me, you know I tend to find myself in some unexpected and incredible adventures from time to time! I thought I already signed up for the craziest journey since I found out 5 months ago that I was awarded a scholarship from the Swedish Institute and I would be studying my master’s in Fashion Marketing and Management at the University of Borås. As much as that’s a dream come true, (and I can’t wait to share it with you in blog posts to come) I was clearly mistaken. Before I sharpened any pencils and downloaded my course schedule, I managed to squeeze in a very special adventure – I w ..read more
